Thanks for that HappySpur, was very informative. I'll admit, I didn't realise we balanced the books so much with transfers out. Going by the economics of the last eight years, a lot will depend on how much we get for Modric.

Indeed. But I do think we can expect Levy to give more money that the 15m we would have under Harry. I believe that AVB would be given more to change the squad to reflect his style. So say 30m (and here is where I am just guessing). But we've spent nearly 20m of that, so this is where selling Modric matters if we are going to get a lot of other players. To be fair, we've recovered Gylfi with sales so far. But as you can see, after Modric, we don't have enough coming in to offset a record signing on a GK and a replacement CM. And it's why Ade on 5 is key. Because we can't afford strikers.

Hmmm that doesn't sound too positive does it.

Why? i read it as Vdv is one of us and rvp is a prat but his watching baseball so off to pay attention to that. wouldn't say there is any itk there.

I also read that tweet wrong. Read it as:

VDV = YidRVP = Wanker

Which got me seriously worried. But now I see what he meant. Grammar has never been so important.

I assume that the fee's received for Kranks and Corluka paid off 75% of the Verts and Sig fee's.

I'm expecting Modric, Pieneer, Bassong, Jenas to move on for a combined 48 million or so. So I think we have about 42 million to break even on ins and outs (very roughly and not including money saved on released player wages already)

If Ade and lloris come in for about 20 million I can't see us spending more than 22 million on mourtinho and might explain why were not willing to go much beyond this...

Saying that I couldn't be completely wrong aswell!

I think Lyon will buckle and we'll still sign Lloris but Moutinho is gonna be too pricey and we'll probably move on, I want us to sign him but not for the amounts being mentioned. It's just my opinion but I also think that Porto just wouldn't want to sell to AVB as they were pissed at him for leaving for Chelsea.

Hamsik or Strootman would do for me, with the latter being the more likely if we did bid imo.
Hamsik the one who plays for Napoli? I'd suggest Rakitic but El Dildo and Levy would likely kinghit each other or start making out furiously if they found themselves in the same room again.

I don't know why we do it to ourselves every window. We all know how Levy operates. We won't spend more on a player than we think he's worth. Gylfi and Verts were good players at a decent price. The prices being quoted for Moutinho & Lloris are clearly too much and I cant see us letting Modric go for less than £35M either. Levy won't be the 1st to blink; we know this. He'll wait until the super rich clubs have concluded their business and we'll go for the best of the rest when the clubs that need to sell realise they aren't going to win the lottery this window. Sure it may mean we drop a few points at the start of the season because we are not prepared and the new signings haven't bedded in (or as is often the case even arrived yet) but this won't concern Levy who is primarily a businessman and I think actually enjoys playing hardball for every penny. AVB has had a year to put together his wishlist. It's not going to have just 3 or 4 players on it. For all we know the players we've been linked to are just red herrings and AVB and Levy are yet to begin making their moves. No need to panic yet.

Because we can't afford strikers.

'Because we can't afford strikers.'
'Because we can't afford strikers.'
'Because we can't afford strikers!!!'

Like a dagger through the heart, as we attempted to rise again from our depths of despair, first Rafa said he still loved us, then Ade said, 'Sure, i'll come play with you guys again...' but no, SO CALLED Happyspur made us all SAD SPURS with a ruthless financial analysis. Say it ain't so, Happyspur, say it ain't the Heskey loan, not the Heskey loan, for...the...love...of...God:

PLEASE NOT THE HESKEY LOAN!

Am I missing something has the window shut? Lets leave all are negativity until we know what we have come the close of the window. Yes we have had some bad news yesterday but if anything it shows things can change in an instance so things can still turn out good.

This isn't to knock you but, just like the negativity when it dawns on us all that we're not a big hitter in the transfer market anymore, posts like yours have popped up every summer for the past 4 years.

Things can still turn out good, but many of us (myself included) need to redefine our definitions of 'good'.

Also, 'things changing in an instant' has only once been a positive thing for us, and that was being given VDV on a plate due to the 25 man squad rule and us having CL football to offer.

Would love to preach all the 'dare to dream' stuff about this transfer window (and really believe it) but the new breed of owners have skewed the market so only they can win. It's really not much fun anymore.

Who cares, akqa is a wum of the highest order.

I don't think he is a WUM at all. However I think he gets info from many different sources so some may be wide of the mark and some may be on the money. However, I do genuinely believe he is a Spurs fan that gets excited when he hears a bit of gossip and passes it on to us. I know if I was in a situation where I was privy to ITK I would probably come running here and squeal like a cat so can understand the way he posts and passes on info.
