It's gone 4 o'clock and there's only 30 pages in this thread. I've done enough deadline days on here to know that I don't need to read it. No signings, nobody expected to sign, and not even a cryptic to entertain the rabid masses. Tell me I'm wrong :(.
You're wrong.

Why though when our borrowing is against an asset that's bringing in millions more than the interest payments and we made 150 million last year and this year will be the same
Get naming rights then and stop asking so much

The good news is we will look less appealing without that pesky Champions League pedigree

Didn't we just have a record profit year, how can we be so skint, God help us when we don't get champions league money in a few years, we'll be signing no one!

Moura is Kane's backup (in combo with Son) and has over 20 goals this and last season. How many of those above have scored more?

EDIT - to stay on topic, appreciate the insight and info as always Herc. Really hopeful on Eze - he looks a bit special.
Moura is not Kane's back-up. Neither is Son. Kane doesn't have a back-up. Jesus, I thought we'd all agreed on that already.

The banks are going all austerity on us despite the risk of under-investment in the squad being that we could lose 100m odd in sponsorship and t.v rights if we miss out on CL.

Seems we are in for a long transition phase. I am hoping we don't have a long arsenal type phase with the stadium. They went downhill eventually

So according to Hercs post an investment company has riddled us with debt for a stadium that will have no benefit for us playing wise. In fact has left us with a huge debt that the club will have a long time after the owners have gone. Cynic says that if this is the case the only benefit of moving from the lane was to improve their sell on chances and revenue. No striker is criminal and negligent. Not talking this window. They’ve had years

LISTEN OUT PLEASE!

we are heavily governed by our banks, and the credit we already drawn down, and have with them. Reality is; we will spend sensibly. We have auditors etc, under agreement watching how we spend every penny. The bank want to protect their asset, which is the stadium. Unless we have an investor to come in, pay off everything, we have to be creative and frugal. I rather that than false hopes. So don’t expect summer to see us rack up 150m in purchases Net spend. We thought we would of had more sponsors:naming rights etc.

I don’t like it, but that is how it is.
This is our reality, we are a business plain and simple. It is hard for us as fans because football is about so much more than business. It is a passion, a way of life, an emotional connection. Squaring those things with us being a business is not possible hence all the grinding of teeth and rending of garments.

Appreciate the reality check Herc however sobering it is.

We are not skint!
Well I can only imagine we are possibly going through a sale, and any potential buyer doesn’t want large transfer debts before purchase. Otherwise ‘the bank watching us’ and ‘we are not skint’ is completely contradictory in terms of player acquisitions

Exceptions being players of the Dybala / Bale profile would increase the value of the clubs assets (hate that term for players) so they are deemed plausible. Would tie in to no naming rights as future owners would have a blank canvas to either sell or put their own name up

Thanks @Hercules, interesting info on the finances.

I'm really confused why we have so little money to spend, given that we're the eighth richest club in the world by revenue, and just recorded the highest profits ever in world club football.

Edit: seen your second post on this. Thanks for the further info.

Unfortunately Revenue has to have costs attributed to it. As Herc said we now have a lot of costs.

I'm sure someone really clever can enlighten me. How were we ever in talks with bale up until this morning but haven't got the money to loan or part pay on a forward with no where near the terms we'd have to pay for bale.

The issue is, we have needed a backup striker for years. City and Jesus is a pefect example of how they knew Aguero couldn't continue to play every game, although he was in his prime (arguably still is) and didn't need replacing, they still went out and got someone in who could play alongside him for several seasons with the view to eventually taking over the reigns.

Why our scouting system hasn't identified a young striker in the past 5 years or so is questionable, there must be some out there who could come and do a job, we aren't expecting another Kane, as we will struggle to ever find someone of his calibre but just someone who can come and do a job. Maybe Parrott is that striker who knows. It's just a ridiculous situation we find ourselves in yet again, we know Kane would get an injury at some point this season but yet again didn't prepare for this, arrogantly.
