Parker, Hudd and Livermore gone means we will try for Eriksen or Pjanic IMO.

Ade and Defoe gone means We try for Lamela.

I think this could be on the card. AVB must be wetting all over.

Just read the ITKs. JJ now suggesting possibility of Bale staying...Well, now all ITKs now tend to have a idea of Bale staying.
Also from Goat info, I deduce that Bale staying - coz if we are gonna be title contenders, we need Bale.
All round good news.

With so many incomings & even a mooted possibility of Eriksen joining, I see a obvious fire sale/loans.

AVB said yesterday - “Defoe & Siggurdson are players we count on 100 per cent. Sigurdsson is completely in our plans. Defoe is a hero for Tottenham and has been doing well. He faces competition which he has always faced during his career.”

So I would rule out loan/sale on Defoe, Gylfi.

My outgoing list looks like -

i) Huddlestone
ii) Livermore (loan)
iii) Parker
iv) Gomes
v) Adebayor
vi) Falque (loan ?)
vii) BAE
viii) Carroll (?)

And possible incoming on Eriksen, Toby/Chiriches, Coentrao(?) and may be one more striker.
23 or 24 man squad able to play multiple position. Looking at such a squad, I fear likes of Holtby may not get more game time.

Also, if Parker is set to join QPR it's got to mean Capoue is indeed coming here.

Hopefully we don't get Caulker'd.

Think that's why we are holding off on announcing Capoue. Teams will know we need to get the wages of at least 2 midfielders off our books and will lowball us on the fee.

That's the first I've heard JJ give any indication that Bale could be staying. Very confident he's staying now.

Interesting exchange on Twitter:

@ryantegan: Parker dropping down a division. Will Defoe follow suit?
@brazilyid: little bet Ryan bet its not QPR?
@Jetsetyid: Can I join that bet?

Great news from JJ, I was always under the impression that his stance on Bale was due to our willingness to sell and a belief that Madrid, the club that essentially pioneered the strategy of spending obscene money on star players to buy success long before the oligarchs and sheiks got involved, would eventually pay the price.

With the Spanish banks under stress, the European Commission taking a long look at the special tax status enjoyed by Madrid and Barca, and the other clubs in La Liga raising a stink about the ridiculous TV situation it's beginning to sound to me like Madrid won't be willing to shell out this time around. This squares with what LLM has maintained throughout the window.

Combined with the information about a willingness to spend (and the goat is not the first to suggest this is the case), this is all starting to make me think we could really press on and challenge for the league this year. Of course Madrid could decide to pay up on Sept. 2 and we could get stuck with the WF equivalent of Frazier Campbell, but for now I am optimistic.

I honestly don't think this is a factor. Whether we announced his signing or not is immaterial. There is a seller and a buyer and the price is determined by how much the buying club really want the player

On your theory if we bought Lamela before we sold Bale. Would that change how much we could expect to get for him.

Not meant as an attack on you, but I see this type of speculation quiet often on here and always disagree.

I think it's bad news from JJ - saying it's like the Modric situation and that he still thinks he will go. Personally think we have already made a deal with RM and are making sure the Lamela is done and have told RM to keep quiet for now so that we don't spend another 10m on him.

JJ then clarified it will be like Modric 2011 where he was made to stay for one more season....

Well with a handle like that, the content does indeed live up to the billing :D

That's different. We don't actually want to shift Bale. The whole world knows we are happy to shift Parker/Hudd. Having Lamela and Bale in the squad would be a positive because they would both play and contribute. Hudd and Parker won't get a game with our current midfield and are just eating into wages, hence we are desperate to get rid. We would be selling Bale from a position of strength.

That is a better take from JJ than his previous, but still worse than all the other itk's have said. POTL hasn't really weighed in for ages though, so I suspect it is far from certain, just as JJ is saying.

One key point though...the NLD is right before deadline day...so if he protests he will not be available for perhaps our biggest game of the season. That will be just about the end of him with the fans imo. If he does go that route of course. He may turn up next weekend for all we know.

I like the ITK saying we are going for the league.

Therefore I choose to believe it.

If we can keep Bale and buy the remaining players that AVB feels are needed, I have every faith we can challenge. It will be on a tighter budget than city or chelski and will be with a young squad who are able to grow together. The one issue is Bale and whether he will stay (for a year or longer) - people have said Giggs is a threat (as he would talk up United) but I also think he could be an inspiration (as a one-club player) if the spending and then the desire on the pitch shows we truly have the ambition.

As has been pointed out before, other players can dream of greatness in international football: Bale is never going to win a World Cup - he needs to have the dream of that level of achievement elsewhere - we needs to show that can be with Spurs!

It's becoming obvious that POTL prints what Donna Cullen tells them to.
