Wohoo! Here we go!
I hope we keep Dawson and VDV and add one more of real quality. Basically this person needs to be influential and get goals. Am not worried about GK tbh. If Rose leaves I am really worried about left back. But I assume if they let him go there is a plan:-(

The fan in me says levy will pull this out of the bag an sign moutinho, lloris, and another worldy! But the pessimist in me can help but think well all be reading sky sports ticker when it says Ssn sources understand spurs have failed with deadline day deals for moutinho et all! Please levy make all our wet dreams come true and sign them!

So does anyone think this Lloris situation will get sorted today?
French media reported that we'd meet again today so it should be done. Plus, the Lyon fans say this is typical of the club, trying to squeeze out a bit more money before they sell the player. Hope they're right!

Hopefully but if levy has tried to undercut the fee you could understand they are annoyed. But if they really need the money, as we are led to believe, then I'm assuming they will want to deal.

just found this on the mail
Reliable Brazilian website Globoesporte claims that Tottenham have failed in a new bid to sign midfielder Willian, despite meeting Shakhtar Donetsk's £23.75million asking price.
The Ukrainian champions didn't like the structure of the deal, which would have seen the fee paid in five instalments. Shakhtar want half up front and the rest before the end of the year. Will Spurs agree?

Today I need to listen to Eminems lose yourself. The lyrics is made for Levy and describes us:

Look, if you had one shot, one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted in one moment
Would you capture it or just let it slip?
Ironically my iPhone gave me this song on shuffle this morning. Followed by Valley of Death. Hopefully today doesn't follow suit on SC!

Or maybe it is the other way around?

I really feel that unless we make 3-4 key signings we are going to have weakened ourselves over all from last season as a squad.

Really believe we need another striker and wing cover, or at least as in Remy I suppose a player who can do both.

Certainly need to replace Modric with a top class player who can run our midfield and could do with a new keeper.

That's an awful lot of incomings to expect with so little time left, hard to see it all happening (especially with players of the type of quality we would want)

Maybe a loan? (or 2) could be on the cards.

I got a feeling when the window is closed over all we are going to be slightly disappointed with our activity but we are reshaping and rebuilding under a new manager so this season was always likely to be one of transition. The Modric sale will be a huge loss no matter who we bring in, but hopefully in the long run our new manager will mould the team in his image and make us a success.

I just hope he is backed because thus far it doesn't really appear he has been backed with his signings and ITK seems to have dried up or at least I hope its more a case of Levy playing his cards close to his chest because so late into the window and we aren't exactly hearing noises like Willian and JM are about to be annnouced in a double swoop with Lloris to follow are we?!?

Agreed.
GK - Friedal is a year older, and while still a good pro, at his age that's not good...
Defence - King retired, Bassong and Corluka gone - Vertonghen in. -2
Midfield - Modric, Pienaar and Kranjcar out, Sigurdsson and Dembele in. -1
Attack - Saha out, nobody in. -1

Last night's ITK suggests Lloris will be done, and the hitch is minor.
Defensively, we are probably not that bad off, with Caulker and Naughton returning from loan, though I wouldn't be surprised to see Carvalho sign and Dawsin be sold. Talk of Rose being loaned to Subnderland bothers me though, with no natural LB cover for Ekotto.
I'm guessing at this point the VDV transfer holds the key to Moutinho, if he goes, the cash covers Moutinho who then joins. IF he proves too expensive still, then I can half see a late M'vila bid, though recent ITK has gone very cold on that one. Moutinho replaces VDV in creativity, but we need his goals too, so that must be addressed.
Talk of Willian coming in for the wide forward/attacking midfielder role has dies, price differences. Other's lined Dzagoev etc. Can't see this getting done, other than maybe someone to fill the gap on loan.
Striker is a must, and maybe this is dependant on finan ces being raised from fringe player sales, so will likely go doen to the wire. Maybe a loan, maybe nobody at all. Remy has again been linked, albeit dismissed by AVB, but a bit of gamesmanship there maybe... Wouldn't be my first choice, but better than no-one, and also offers alternative for the wide forward as well as CF.

GK, CM and CF at least. Anything less and AVB has been left high and dry. You can't expect him to elevate us as Levy wishes, without the tools to do the job. Time for Levy to show his hand, and back his decision to appoint AVB by making the required sigings, not making excuses at ten past eleven about how 'deals were tough', 'the market is tough', 'the goalposts were moved' etc etc. He runs the club well, we are stable and independant, not reliant on a sugar daddy, but he need to loosen the purse strin gs just a little bit in order to put us on a level playing field to compete for CL places. I'm a little disturbed about the fact we have trimmed the squad over the last window or two, gaining good fees in the process, without reinvesting sufficiently, when our contemparies have. Look at incomimg transfer fees over recent windows versus outgoing, and I'd guess we have made a profit each time. We need to take a bit of a hit and invest a bit now, to push on to the next level. All the clubs around us chasing the 4th spot have spent with little or no fuss, addressing the issues in their squads.

It is early, just under 15 hours to go still, and despite the mood of this post, I do actually feel positive and hopeful that Levy's actions today will match his ambitions for the club. Hero or villain, we'll see in just under 15 hours...
