Unless Ings going to push for the move (cant see it), I can't see how the fee asked will reduce.

Regarding ings earlier in window we wanted And were quoted 45-50 but when we could not shift Tanguy it died

much as club deny it I think they realized how far off we were Sunday and are now acting , the official line is ings is to much but not be at all surprised if we go back in especially if we can shift rose , Ccv and foyth
Definitely agree with this. As always you have to take in to account the business other clubs have done and are doing. Surely Man Utd are going to go very big soon as well. Although we'd filled in a couple of gaps you could definitely see the likes of Everton have very clearly closed the gap on us as have Wolves and Leicester probably. If we get a decent striker on top of Bale and Reguilon we're at least in with a shout of the top 4 again.

Id rather the club was more pro-active than reactive but in this case im glad they are reactive in a very very prompt manner, equipping the manager/team with the right materials and far greater balance and importantly quality in the strength and depth of the squad. If we can pull off ings is would a a real statement of intent (including all the others bought in combination as well) not only do we mean business, but show reals signs of actually wanting to win something rather than just get a minimum of top 4. This would also mean from the Club that now, ' its over to you Jose' and responsibility lies on JM with no excuses.

Tbf I said that at the time and got ripped to shreds for it.

Every year we start well and I think it makes the club think we're OK. A shock loss is the perfect potion for a transfer window, even if it's a bit sour for us in isolation.

It's mental that our transfer planning can change based on whether we look a bit crap in the opening match of the season.

You either continuously drip new players into the squad over a number of years, with an eye on succession planning for the players who you can sell at peak value, or you do what we did in 2018 and accept we'll have to catch up later.

This needs to happen, and it's been obvious since January 2019. No one needed the Everton game to tell us that.

Please don't make me lock this thread.

And i'll add, we handed out amnesties yesterday to a lot of people who'd lost their access this summer because of this Bale thing, wanting them to enjoy it as much as the rest of us were.

So If I have remove that access from anyone, it is going to annoy me massively.

Told the buy back option is not a given lob-sided agreement that works in RM’s favour by just pushing a button. We in other words, it is not we want him back and pay you a little extra, thank you etc. Not that simplistic.

It sounds like we are really playing a waiting game on the strikers and that could go down to the wire which usually doesn't end well for us but seems to be key that we now shift players and that we have many irons in the fire so will put our cards on the table at the optimum time ideally. We're at a point now where i'll start to really cheer the outgoings of Rose, CCV, Foyth etc as it means a serious bid for a proper big time striker could be round the corner.

Thanks Hercules, to be honest I think even having a buy back clause is compromise enough for Levy I can't imagine going any further, certainly not to what would effectively amount to a loan deal.

Knowing Levy he's probably added a clause in small-print just after saying that RM need to offer e..g 40m euros and we have to accept but in addition to this their president has to partake and complete 100 ironman challenges in 100 days blindfolded and only then when he's done that and swam the Channel can the bid be accepted.

I like Aurier, especially since the documentary where he came across really well. He did a decent job for us last season and the level of abuse he gets is a disgrace. Regardless of his mistakes, he always puts a proper shift in and definitely gives a shit. Would be a great squad player for us still.
I wish I could "winner" this multiple times!!

Not going to be popular but I'd 100% keep him if we can. I'd rather let Lamela, Foyth and Sissoko go if we need to free up squad places.
I agree as we need a second right sided FB. Hopefully the competition for places may improve him. He has all the attributes apart from concentration. If he goes he needs replacing.

Great news and an excellent player to add to the squad.

Would not be happy with Ings. He really is not a £45-50m striker. Just because he's English doesn't mean we should pay a £20m premium for a pretty average striker.
