As it has been said multiple times to us, very clearly, based on Dragon’s constant stream of information that is all over the place and rapid, things change quickly and the story is never straight forward. If anything, teaches me to appreciate that our ITK don’t say anything until they are confident it has legs tempering our emotions. Unlike any other window, I’ve never seen us be linked to so many strikers and it change so many times.

Its also important to be super pragmatic because we have seen ITK in the past get so far and nothing come up: Leandro, Moutinho, Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Dybala. This seems very different but keep your emotions checked.
Yeah, but you have to admit the reptile flame thrower makes these board exciting!

Yeah as soon as a few transfers start to go south the only salt that gets applied is those from our tears and we lose all reason.

Dragon has done his rep a world of good this window.

Absolutely, especially with the Reguilon bit. He was adamant about that when the only other links were tenuous or it got shot down. I remember Ali Gold saying we were interested if a deal could be done and compared it to the Bergwijn deal, in going after a player we had scouted for awhile when they become available for a good price even if we weren’t looking at the position going into the window. But Dragon seems like the only ITK or media source who really stuck with it.

They don't get off that lightly - I think all the ITK on the subject has always linked Levy to staying as CEO or something, even if we were bought out. If another 'business' bought us, they'd obviously like that because he's good at the money/growth side. I could see him going only if we were bought as a play toy type thing (who didn't like him on the footballing side)

It'd be entirely the new buyer's choice whether DL stays or goes. Same with every multi-billion corporate takeover (remember: spurs is now a multi-billion corporation whether we like it or not). The decision about DL's fate would have almost nothing to do with him: once you sell your house, you have no say in when/if the decorators get sent in to change it all.

If new buyers wanted rid of him but DL insisted on hanging around despite collecting his 200+m payout, they'd invent some non-job for him like "Chairman of football affairs" or something - consisting of having coffees in the players' dining room and nothing else.

His updates were literally getting laughed at by a few on here, this was only last week!
To be fair, the fact that after being quiet for quite a while, he was suddenly dropping daily nuggets caused plenty of us (myself included) to be a tad sceptical. Especially when considering the nature of his initial departure from the ITK scene.

All credit where its due though, he's played a blinder this window. Long may it continue.

I'm sure there were rumours a while back, when there was talk of a takeover, that DL would stay on for a while in some capacity, mainly to ensure a smooth transition by keeping an experienced head about the place.

I believe it’s common to keep the old bosses around, at least initially, while the new owners get their feet under the table. They may then decide to move in a different direction - or Levy may not enjoy the relationship. But it seems like it would be advantageous to keep him around given his tenure, depth and breadth of knowledge and success on the financial and infrastructure sides of the equation.

Could be networking, catch up with old mates, discussing stadium naming rights, a takeover, CEO fanboy - who knows. Pretty dangerous to start guessing games - that's how shitty rumours begin.

I'd take it out of here, that's for sure.

ITK is a thankless job. You provide what you have been told is going on, that your source is ok with you putting out there, and it either comes in (about 5%) or it does not. Does not make it bad info. It's just that the details could not be worked out. Great example, Dybala last year. By all accounts, the deal was in place between the teams, the terms agreed with the player, but, the player had a third party that owned his personality rights. Juve was not willing to buy them out. We sure as heck were not going to them pay more and would not take a player we could not market. Deal not done. ITK was correct. Third party rights in Portugal and South America cause all sorts of deals to fall by the wayside. Just the reality out there. Bale must also have lots of issues. His name is trademarked. If Spurs cannot market Bale, that is an issue. There are lots and lots of complexities, especially with top players. Can you imagine all of the deals that would need to be struck with Barcelona, Messi, etc to just get a run at him?

Full props to all of the ITK and great respect for Levy for doing what he does, always protecting the bottomline. Believe it or not, the stadium lenders have something to say about what he does. Lots of tightropes to negotiate.

As for Levy with a new owner, I doubt very much as he would remain or that they would want him to do so. If someone threw 2.5-3M GBP at Levy and Lewis, perhaps they would take it. If they do, they will be off elsewhere. Nothing I have seen or read (Including Steve Nash and other sports and film personalities who wanted to buy the team) suggests that they have any desire to sell. Just like with players, there is always a price (a bona fide offer of 200M GBP by a team Kane wanted to leave for would be accepted). I figure for Levy and Lewis, it would be about 2.5-3M GBP. No one is going to offer that in a league where there is also Chelsea (monopoly money), City (monopoly money), United (legit buying power), Liverpool, Arsenal etc. With no guarantee of yearly CL, 2.5-3M GBP does not make much sense unless it is a play thing. There are much better investment opportunities out there.

So happy with the Bale and Reguilon news. One shows clear ambition and the other is yet another really great buy for now and the future to add to Sessegnon, Bergwijn, Lo Celso, Devine, Fernandes, Ndombele - even Mourinho. Lots of really good things going on at THFC

I think I’ve missed something somewhere. Why is everyone talking about someone buying Spurs? Has there been a rumor or ITK of a takeover? I am without power or internet and on one bar of cell service thanks to Hurricane Sally in the US so I may have missed an update or two due to slow load times and impatience and wanting to jump to the newest posts.

On page 7, topper posted an update from prof over on coys. Had a bunch of info but what you are asking about is DL was in behind close door meetings with some plutocrats. He was still trying to figure out if it’s transfer related or not. Hence the takeover speculation.

No, I didn't see DL at a restaurant with plutocrats, I'd recognise most UK based billionaires if I saw them - DL was at the naff place on Albemarle St (next to the abandoned Pret) owned by the two Arse players. If he were trying to convince a plutocrat to buy him out: he'd have gone somewhere much swankier.

Having said that - I am 100% not ITK and don't know DL at all, but the one person I do know who who knows DL quite well, told me told me today (unprompted) that DL has apparently had a few meetings recently with owners of big corporations, and that's making him wonder if DL and Uncle Joe might be thinking of selling. Eeeeeek.

Fellow BSoDLs: better hope it's about the naming rights. (even though I'm told it's not)
ENIC haters: it might be your year. Bale back & Levy gone?

Levy has to be positioning the club for a sale.

However much we can convince ourselves of Levy’s emotions or nostalgia, he simply never would’ve splurged this kind of cash on a 31 y/o AND agreed to a player with a buyback clause a season or two ago.

But for the short-term they’re a fantastic value add, increase the likelihood of a successful season, play huge with the fans, and after he sells—not his problem!

Or Levy is just bringing Bale back with the approval of the manager, all while buying a talented LB to add to Hojberg, Doherty, Hart and Devine, adding to last year's incomings of Ndombele, Lo Celso, Sessegnon, Bergwijn, Fernandes, Clarke .

As I have stipulated, there is always a number that gets you too yes. 2.5-3B is what I figure. Cannot, at this time, see anyone willing to go in on that.

He's not selling, or looking to sell. He is backing the manager for the now and the club for the future. His job.

I lurk here way more than I care to admit and rarely ever post, but I just wanted to say before we sign Bale and the servers are under unimaginable strain... all going to plan, this window is going to be near impossible to beat!

- The incomings - no need to elaborate on that
- This site, with this thread, even including a 24-hour meltdown grace period and a 300+ page Bale thread including 30+ pages of avatar changing (guilty) and minds being blown out of the water
- The ITK.... the insights that these guys have offered this window, sometimes going out on a limb.. but always offering as much of a window into the ongoings at the club to our fans... it has been absolutely next level

Thank you so much to everyone involved in making this tick, not just now but every single day, transfer window or not, and giving all members endless amounts of entertainment. Being from Australia, I can't tell you how amazing this resource is and has been for me for the past 10 years, especially this year providing a distraction from what has been a horrible year for so many reasons. I highly doubt I would be the only one to say that this place has been critical for me in regards to mental health and just being able to take a break from it all.

$200AUD into the pot when the pay goes in this week!
