Good morning fartstranglers
The other day we ran a poll asking when people thought we'd sign Benteke. The poll got an astonishing number of votes, over 600 of you took part.
Six bloody hundred. And that's just the yokes who bothered voting. Whichever way you slice it that's a lot. If everyone slung just three or four quid in the pot we'd be sorted for quite a while, so if you've never donated before, please consider doing so now.
Now, when it's donation drive time, which it is i'm afraid, where are you? *Goes all Delia* where aaaaare yoooooou? Let's be having youuuuuuu!
I reckon we've about 500 or more lurkmeisters, so come on guys, if you're one of them and you enjoy SC's coverage of the Transfer Window (and lets face it, you do because you're here right?), then please chip in. It doesn't have to be a massive amount. A monkey will do. Nah i'm kidding.......Why not a long 'un? Or even a pony? hehe, seriously though, a cockle would be great or even a lady. In fact whatever you can stretch to.
And if you happen to be a Spurs mad gazzillionaire, cough the fuck up. Or if you're a famous Spurs fan, then send me a PM, you might be able to help us.
But A&C, where does the money go?
Outgoings: The server costs £330 per month, which might be rising to £380 soon. Forum software purchases/licenses/misc comes to around £500 a year. So currently, the cost of SC is about £5k a year.

Incomings: Advertising/Affiliates can sometimes cover the costs during the transfer window (January, July, August) but thats sometimes. The rest of the year that falls well short. Its difficult to give an exact figure because the numbers don't stay the same but i'd say £100 a month during the quiet months. Donations during the quiet months come to about £50pm if we're lucky.

Rob will know better than I do, but I reckon we're short by about £2500 a year.

If one month we raise more than is needed, it stays in the pot as it won't be long before it IS needed. The shortfall is made up out of Robs pocket. I'll repeat that.......It comes out of his pocket. Think about that for a minute. I reckon he pays an average of £50 a WEEK.

This is why i'm often cajoling, nudging, outright begging and open to bribery during the transfer window. It's when the most of you are about and our last big donation drive raised enough to cover costs for a couple of months or so.

Any excess raised stays in the pot until its needed when donations/income goes right down. Absolutely nothing goes on anything other than SC's running costs.

So, if you'd like to donate, there's a donation link on the front or home page of the site. We use Paypal but you don't need an aco**** with them, you can use your card in the same way as making any other online purchase. If you want to send a postal order/cheque, please PM myself or Rob.

All donations are very much appreciated. Thanks.

PS: I love Daniel Levy

PPS: Today's word of the day is 'expecting'

OK guys newspaper rumours can go into the players thread until we've got some actual eyetee on the gig. For today we concentrate on donations and utterings from those gentlemen that are 'In The Know'

With the occasional lewd comment from YT.

Personally I hope the Benteke ITK dries up soon the way it has with Paulinho since we signed him.

it's in the Mirror. It's probably not true.
Wasn't the mirror the paper that reported David villa saying we never did enough to sign him? Seems like they may have got that one right if JJs comment about not paying the wages were correct.? Hopefully this article is wrong tho..

dunno, sorry. Printing a story with quotes from Villa that has been widely reported is different to writing an EXCLUSIVE that is made up by Oliver Holt, though. Especially as Man Utd have missed out on many players already and no one wants to sign for Moyes.

Having lurked round the transfer rumours for most of this window, my donation is finally on its way.

Let's hope we're rewarded with a shiny new striker ASAP...

This might surprise some people but I would be ok with getting Benteke and no one else this window. I really think it would be a mistake to get rid of Ade. If we keep him this season with a proper pre season behind him, you'll see a different player. Him, Benteke, Bale behind them could cause a lot of damage to teams. Defoe is good back up on the bench.

Townsend can provide competition to Lennon and he can play on the left. Get Falque back and see what he can do.

Paulinho, Dembele, Sandro in midfield, Carroll, Sig and Holtby provide the creative element.

Happy for Parker to be back up, should finish his career with us. Livermore could also stay as back up.

Left back, I'm happy with BAE and I think Rose is young and hungry, he will give good competition to BAE.

We got Kaboul back, so happy with all CB's.

Right back, I'm not Walkers biggest fan but if he cuts out the stupid mistakes and concentrates for the full 90, then he's a player. Naughton as back up.

If there are any funds scout and buy young talent.

Donated 30 pounds (that's fifty bucks down here in Oz).

Looking forward to DL coughing up a whole lot more in the near future (though not holding my breath).
