Quotes from the Valencia president about Soldado. Star reporting that we are back in for him.

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/fo...20m-move-for-Valencia-striker-Roberto-Soldado

Has there been any recent ITK on this guy?

I don't know, but Valencia for all their bluster about the buy out know they need to sell and also know that Soldado's value will decrease from here on, not because of his game, but simply because he's 28 now. If there's any truth we've offered 20 mill they must be seriously considering it even if, as there's still a few weeks to go, they won't necessarily bite our hand off just yet in case they get a better offer

Surely there's a happy balance where a club can see that at times they need to pay a bit extra to get a player in a position they really need to boost the team and bring them success that won't happen if they don't add a bit of quality. Take last season surely rather than haggling over a couple of million we had tied up a quality striker chances are we would be in the CL this season and even a decent early run should have given us maybe £30 mill in extra revenue.

It's easy to quote Leeds but they were just reckless in throwing high fees and wages at for the most part some pretty average players. Speculating to accumulate by making well considered timely investments in players can pay huge dividends

You're right... a bit easy to quote Leeds but guess I meant that I prefer our well run, financially sound club that is gradually improving through careful investment into both personnel and facilities

Yeah but how many times in recent seasons have we missed out on CL for the sake of being too prudent and what has that cost us in missed revenue and lost quality players

I know the links are tenuous at best, but Benteke and Chadli with Oliveira and Neilton sounds like a fantastic way to add talent that is ready to produce and ones that will need some time but could become great.

When you think about the costs involved (Benteke for around 18-20m, Chadli for 7.5, Neilton 7m, Oliveira 1m loan fee with a 6m buyout as rumored) it's a very cost effective way to address a couple of the biggest question marks on our squad.

It's probably done. It's just our website team need two weeks to figure out how to upload a picture of Christian and then they'll need to find the £ sign so they can tell us the fee.

Complex stuff.

Sorry I meant to like this but im on my phone

I find it ridiculous that we were all desperate to sign Adebayor last season, and now most of you cannot wait to get rid of him.

He had a difficult season last year, in which he had largely no pre - season and ACN.

He was fantastic season the before and almost unplayable at times last season.

Personally, I would prefer to have him than not - especially at the rate strikers are disappearing at the moment.

He also seems to have a good realationship with Bale.

I want at least 3 strikers and 1 wing forward.

It's funny how if a player has a great season a lot of "fans" expect a player to show "loyalty" and turn down bigger clubs and more money, but one bad season and you are sending him down to the glue factory.

I agree with your overall point but Ade had no pre season because he dicked us around delaying the transfer so thats his fault.

Valencia are about as likely to get 30m for Soldado as we are to pay 20m for a 28yo.

A suspicious mind might think this is all part of the Benteke negotiations.

I'd like to see that happen but I reckon we'll just sign Chadli and Benteke... Annoying we aren't adding any young upcoming talent.

I agree although there is a lot of things I wish for. Palace just signed Campana, and from what I have heard about him, his is meant to be quite a good prospect. Would have liked to see him in a spurs kit even as a back up. Like a more useful Livermore.

Either way I will be satisfied with Benteke, Chadli and the prospect of McCarthy (but I will wait till more info comes on that). No doubt though if we do sign CB and Chadli or all three of them, I am sure we would nab a few prospects here and there.

Just posted this in another thread with reference to the posibilitty of having both benteke and soldado, thoughts?

Perhaps we're playing this with the LB/RB doubling up as wingers. Eg Sandro sits infront of defence during any attack we have. If kyle moves into the wing position when attacking down the right, Paulinho sits back with Sandro, and same with moussa when BAE/LB attacks?

---------hugo-----------
kyle kaboul tongen bae
--paul sandy mousse--
----------bale----------
---bentkete soldado---

What do you guys think?

the only time he was unplayable was against chelsea, he was class. the rest he was dog turd. He put the effort in that game, whats his excuse in the rest of the poor games.?

Why copy and paste a thread that you didn't bother reading, because if you did you wouldn't have asked the fucking question.

For £5m i might have dicked around.

This.

It was Man City dicking around with his pay-off.

I see more and more people talking about a million quid like it's a drop in the ocean when they're slagging players and the chairman off.

You see it all the time, 'pfft why are we haggling over half a million? Levy out!' In the real world, that's 20 staff in a job for a year.

He was not signed in time for pre-season..

Explain to me what made him travelling around America, fucking about when a transfer was in the pipeline last summer.

As a pro, he had a duty to get himself as fit as possible, without game time, in preparation. The fact he was well off the pace is something that does not sit well.
