If making Bale captain means he stays I couldn't give two hoots!

Would be weird to see him leading pre-game huddle we do though. Always see Dawson doing it with a clenched fist and stuff.

Graham Hunter - "the general conviction is that Florentino Perez - who has a history of buying Figo when Barcelona didn't want to sell, Zidane when Juventus didn't want to sell, Ronaldo from Inter Milan - is so intent on pulling this off it will still happen".

You obviously know jack about Daniel Levy!

Bale as captain has some merit.

-There are new players arriving at the club who will see him as the icon of the team, they will have no issue with him being captain.
-Dawson is likely to be in and out of the team
-His performances over the last 6 months of the season were talismanic, he's earnt status as a 'team leader'
-In enmeshes his status within the club, and with the responsibility it would carry will make him more integral and a greater part of the club off the field, potentially giving him an increased sense of responsibility & loyalty to the club.
-It shows him his value to all within the club; he is wanted here

All of the above may just help in a long term sneaky strategy to keep him longer, and if that's the case, then why the fuck not?

I think thats a fairly good analysis.

Also, i think in general the bloke himself. He is pretty grounded, a likeable chap, if shy - but so was 'the' King. Bale as never been big headed, he works hard, and always gives it his all. If Tottenham FC were going to have a face, i think its a great one to have. Its becoming apart of our club identity. Ledley King, Dawson, Parker - all players that are very professional. Aside from Ade (who hasn't even shown it at spurs) we don't have that, 'in it for the money' player. Ok Ledley had a couple of all night benders he might have wanted to avoid showing public face, but if true, the bale captain thing certainly falls in line with that, and all the stuff you have put.

I need LLM to make a fleeting visit, just to cradle me and say "shhh shhh, there there, it will be ok, Bale is staying, don't listen to the monsters on the Internet. He loves us, and more importantly you. Now sleep well my prince for you will need the energy for tomorrow's ITK, where it all starts again"

He then kisses me on my forehead, says "I'll leave your lamp on" and just as he goes out of my bedroom he turns once more and says "I'm only in the next room if you need me"

I will then go to sleep with a calmness in my heart and warm fuzzy feeling in my belly.

Mmmmmm

Ok that made me laugh hard....not sure how LLM would feel about it though o_O

Is it beyond the realms of possibility that Gareth Bale may finish his career at Tottenham Hotspur and lead us into a decade of Glory while 55,000 fans cheer us to our most magnificent trophy haul of all time?

I dare to dream..

I have to say.....it's in circumstances like this that Daniel Levy does us proud, he may frustrate us sometimes with incoming signings but he is one badasss chairman and we are all the better to have him.

That's fine. But what he has to understand is for this to happen he's going to have to absolutely obliterate the world record fee, your move Perez.

Not on their fucking terms it won't.

This is what people are going to have to start incorporating into their thinking. If Madrid get him this summer, and I just can't see it, its going to have to be something utterly ridiculous - even for Madrid.

Can put Peanut in that bracket also.

Losing a lot of our good sources unfortunately...

I'm sure they will be able to function in some way with ITK. That is the role of the Goat isn't it? Also have to make sure that they disseminate to the deserving and discriminating few able to control themselves.

I find Graham Hunter bloody irritating. Why doesn't he bugger off back to Scotland and report on the SPL!! He was saying RM have given up on Bale as Spurs wouldn't sell a few weeks ago. Just loves himself too much.

He just seems to be the most calming of all the ITK'S, he doesn't beat around the bush and he spells it out as it is. He responds to us, he feels more in touch. Clearly he has direct contact with people at the club. I think that's the feeling with most of us???

I think the scary thing is, no matter what we say or do on here, all of this Bale business is so out of our control, and that's why people freak out. We have no idea what is really happening regardless of what ITK'S say, and that's the worry. Us moaning and finding reasons that he will/will not stay are irrelevant really, the power is with Levy and Madrid (and to a certain extent Bale) if they are going to put in a £85m bid then they will. We have to look at all this with common sense, but we as fans love the club more than anyone else, we are going to see this through our eyes and no one else's. it's painful, it's like your hearing rumours your missus is getting off with Big Kev, he's got a better job than you, he's harder than you, how do you stop it?

God I've gone serious again!

Help me LLM!!! Tell me it's alright!!

Graham Hunter has an annoyingly high opinion of himself but the guy knows his onions.

Hunter also said Thiago was United bound and Isco had chosen City over other bids.

That being said, he's still more palatable than Graham Ballbag!

Perez has his head shoved so far up his own arse that I would happily let Bale sulk for a season if that's the way he wants it, world record fee or not!
