Few more stories in the press about Benteke, suggestions we'll bid £20m.
He seems to want to come and we don't seem that far apart on a fee.
Could this really happen? Daniel finally gets his £20m + striker; one that actually wants to come?

It'd certainly change the mood of a few posters & crush any argument that Andre isn't being supported.
Intriguing...

All being discussed in the Benteke thread :)

I think I'd be alright with Benteke and Chadli as our last "major" dealings. It's not the 3-4 more players after Paulinho that we heard about, but we'd have multiple options up top. I'm really starting to like the idea of Oliveira on a loan-to-buy, though. He's much more reasonable than Rodrigo at this point.

Agreed, Townsend played wide right cutting in, much how Bale finished the season. The playing central thing was not strictly true, Bale stated centrally, but often switched to wide right, driving infield for shooting opportinites, hence that's why some of his later season goals look similar, drive across the face of the box and lash the ball home. Townsend did this to a lesser extent for QPR, and that's what we need, depth. No point only having one option for each position. Either Bale or Townsend can operate left as an orthodox winger, or wide right cutting in. Add Lennon as an orthodox RW, and potentially Sigurdsson or even Chadli as a wide left forward cutting in onto their right foot. Options, it's all about the options.

Paulinho, Benteke/Damaio & Chadli. Good summer. Maybe Oliviera/Rebic too if Ade or Defoe leave.
Keeping AVB and Bale too, great summer.
Add a couple of cheaper/promising youngsters, technical, eager and with potential, in so replacing Gallas, Bentley, Parker etc, and everyone's a winner.

Me to mate. Maybe a little bargain on deadline day as the icing? :)

Just to be clear, I think he IS being supported, but needs to continue to be supported when it comes to signing a striker.

I agree, I wasn't inferring you or anyone in particular.
We just get varying groups of roaming anti-Levyites at times AND THEIR MOOD NEEDS TO BE CHANGED BY A £20m STRIKER ;)

All hail Bastard Sons of Daniel Levy (Night Crew)

Love the dummy he does there to lose the defender and create the space to unleash!!!

How beastly could our team look next season!!! The power and pace of us could be frightening! Long gone the days off soft under belly's lol

We do need some guile though. Is Bernard and Bentekkers too much to ask for? :)

Maybe this is the season Tommy Carroll steps up as a regular starter?

We have guile in the likes of Holtby, who I think we'll see a lot more from this season.

I'm not overly sold on that logic. Sorry :(

I jus think AVB is moving towards a powerful 4-3-3 formation. I think we'll have options to tweak the side against the bus parkers at the Lane when it warrants it. I don't necessarily think that we need a Mata/Silva type signing. We might make one, but I really doubt its going to be a box office name.

Holtby as the attacking one of a midfield three excites me, it honestly does. I think the kid has got a lot of talent. I think AVB will have a great pool of midfielders to pick from for any given occasion.

The problem with Holtby and Carroll is that they don't travel with the ball and commit defenders. They're very static on the ball and tend to release it quickly. The only central midfielder we have that commits defenders is Dembele. This is why I feel Bernard is a must.

We could play Dembele - Paulinho - Carroll/Holtby in a midfield 3 against relegation fodder; we are likely to have the lion share of possession so there would be less of a requirement for a defensive midfielder.

Not so much Holtby but Carroll has potentially the best passing range in our squad; he could easily sit back and let Paulinho and Dembele do the bursting forward.
