What annoys me is that we could have got Luuk De Jong as the young competition for Ade for, what was it in the end, £10m?

BMG got a decent deal if you consider the other figures being banded about. £20m for Willian? Feck right off! No way he's worth that.

Look at the photos of Anderson when he joined Utd compared to the present day, the guy must have put on two stone and looks like Andy Reid. Sorry but in this day and age If a professional footballer can't keep physically in shape it's a bad job. it's just says a lot about his commitment to his job, this isn't the 1970s where players could go out on the piss, have a kebab and play footy the following day half cut.

Cant see another striker coming in, especially with Lloris back on the radar, just dont see the money stretching that far.

Depends who the other signings are really...and remember if another centre forward comes in then Defoe will likely be out the door for a decent fee. To be honest I think we could trade Defoe out for a striker who can actually play up front on his own, even if its not a superstar (Aubameyang?) without much of a net spend. Also the potential sales of Dawson and maybe even Jenas to bulk out the kitty...who knows?

Anyone ask JJ about Aubameyang recently? I prefer him to any other realistic striker target (So that's uh... Remy?).

The guy's an awesome talent and I bet St. Etienne would sell him off for anywhere between 7-9m?

I love the way we all see how long it takes to get deals done. JJ alluded to this previously too, but you all know if you think it through, big deals take time. Here we are, 4 days left and some are doing the usual 4 star player hokey cokey.

You are setting yourselves up for a disappointment. I reckon, we'll pull in Lloris and Dembele. Anyone bigger/better would be a big surprise.

If you want a real left fielder, it would't surprise me at all if we asked about Dempsey coming with Dembele with Defoe and/or Hudd going the other way, maybe even Dawson. Three players Jol knows well.

Do you reckon Levy has an ambigious pre-determined phone-message/email he just gets his personal assistant to send around...
After googling 'Top 100 players to sign on FM12'

There would be more illogical things than this...

He cost 10m because he's a pretty ordinary player.

Yes tonight - amongst a group of 6 strikers who might be possibilities to see if he would say the group contained a possibility (if deal is early stages he would not be likely to answer to a single striker), but no answer.

He may be declining but on how many occasions did he save us on Saturday?
It was a system change that cost us the game and not Friedel.
Lloris will be a massive success in the Premiership and will have a perfect deputy in Friedel if the signing comes off.

I disagree with every point of this post aside from the statement that Lloris would be successful in the Premiership.

1) Friedel was well positioned for his saves (which is what you should expect), but it was some pretty poor finishing from West Brom that failed to beat him.

2) We finished the game with the same system we started with, when we were dominant. The change in system that we saw was AVB chasing to score and have a chance at winning the game. His move worked in that respect. It was unfortunate that West Brom equalized, but not really AVB's fault.

3) So you think Friedel is better than the French #1? Friedel did well for us last year, but he appears to be really showing his age this year. His kicking has been terrible in both games, and he stays rooted to his line like a tree. I wish we had picked him up years earlier, how much better would it have been if we had Friedel as our American keeper instead of Keller all those years back? Trust me, as a Yank I know how good Friedel has been, I've got more than just the one season to judge him on. And I certainly may be wrong, but to me it looks like he's lost it.

I think we'll get a Saha type back up for Ade again - probably in lieu on another pop at LD in January after the Brazilian season has finished. AVB can't be happy with Defoe as his number 2 striker.

Doubtful on Moutinho but he's the one we need most of all. VDV must stay.

Dembele I would've signed instead of Sig if that was possible. Willian I'm left wondering about - is he THAT good?

Lloris looks like it could be a goer but probably only if it doesn't impact on other transfers we're doing AND ideally Gomes goes...

So 4 days left. Plenty of ITK - but what's real ?

Key positions - Creative mid, striker
Nice to have - Goalkeeper, Winger.

IMO : Selling club wants too much money or will not come : Leandro, Moutinho, Llorente (I'd like them all but this is reality)

That leaves newcomers in blue in these 4231 two teams :

Lloris
Walker, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Assou-Ekotto
Sandro, M'vila/Dembele
Willian/Lennon, VDV, Bale
Adebayor

Friedal
Naughton, Caulker, Gallas., Rose/Smith
Livermore, Parker
Lennon, Sigurdsson, GDS/Townsend
Aubemeyang/Remy/another striker (eg from RM)

Out : Huddlestone (loan), Dawson (QPR ?), Gomes (PSV), Jenas (part of Dembele deal), - GDS ? Bentley ?

'In' Wild Cards :
Isco - no ITK in recent days, Only 20 years old and played about 30 games, so need Malaga to sell at low price ro reflect risk in a young player

'Out' Wild Cards
Defoe - If second striker comes in he will noit want to hang around.
VDV - Lots of rumours he would not be unhappy to go back to Hamburg for personal reasons if opportunity arises. IMO, Siggurdson would gain by watiching how VDV plays close up.

Summary :

Lloris - Lyons Chairman tweets suggesting fee agreed, down to player
Dembele - Discussions under way per JJ
MVilla - BBC say discussions under way. Personally think he is a back up option
Willian - Discussions under way, JJ say Shaktar have dropped price, but needs to come down dramatically.
Strikers : No ITK ! Hint we are re-examining old options as well as new (hence Remy for example)

Hmm, a lot of activity for 4 days - and JJ hinted nobody 'in' tomorrow.

4 players 'in' would be pushing it, nore likely 2 or 3
2-3 players out ???

WIP in January !

Yep. They don't make players like that any more.

Aubemeyang appears a younger, cheaper alternative to Remy. Similarly able to play up top centrally, or wide. Grabbed a couple of goals last night I believe.[/quote]

have we been linked to him though?

Don't think this has been posted yet?

The original JJetset ‏@jetsetyid
@tayflorentinus Not sure VDV will go mate, its really up to him and he loves us, we are not pushing him out in anyway.Family comes first.

I'm not sure if that exact tweet has been posted, but if not something very similar was.

I think that's why a lot of us, while we would be pretty heartbroken to see VdV leave, respect his decision if it's got his family's best interest in mind. Can't fault a guy for taking care of his family. No matter what, VdV will always be special to me even if he's not in a Spurs shirt.

Is there any clue as to what's happening with Giovanni Dos Santos? Is he staying/leaving or is it still to be determined?

Van der Vaart is the quintessential Tottenham Hotspur player. Creative, exciting, technically exquisite. Along with the likes of Hoddle, Ginola, Gascoigne and Berbatov, he has that ability to do things which are audacious and brilliant. Things which other players wouldn't even attempt. Things which make you stand up and clap. And he does them in the biggest games.

On top of all that Rafa seems like a thoroughly decent bloke, he has never been snobbish towards Spurs despite coming here from a bigger club. He has always respected us in public and make an effort to make sure the fans know he loves it here. If he has to leave I'll be sorry to see him go but feel privileged to have had him here. If it's for family reasons then I'll respect him even more. Great player. Great guy.
