This is why we don't get nice things.

Yep.

I know I've been guilty of it in the past, but since then it's been made clear that Rob and A&C really don't want this place to descend into hounding posters for info.

I'm sure if JJ has something he's happy to share, he'd share it. It's not as if he's going to say "oh thanks for reminding me about David Villa. Forgot all about him. He's actually in my front room celebrating his new Spurs contract."

Makes two of us come to think of it!

I honestly think he could easily stay, and don't think he would spit his dummy out, if all is to be believed. I think if a genuine offer of 60-80m came in it would be incredibly hard to knock back though. Especially if, as I reckon, end of next year he'll be down to 2 years on his contract.

I have a feeling he'll be hear next season, but by the same token It wouldn't surprise me at all if he wasn't.

So, as I said, fucked if I know really.

Well I bloody well hope AVB has a little more flexibility with targets this summer. Can't just be targeting 30m strikers and nothing of better value.

I guess this is where Uncle Franco steps in!

Isco was available early in the transfer window wasn't he? Malaga were in deep shit early in the summer so flogged Cazorla and Rondon to ease the finances a little irrc.

I think we chose Sigurdsson over making a real go for Isco... I don't even want to think about it

And Im not even sure AVB was even in charge at this point. Vertonghen and Sigurdsson were 99% done and dusted before he got here.
Nope he was available throughout but his price went up it seems to his release clause of £17mill after his CL performances

Because I was so negative before. Also heard Villa should be done (just backing up others). And always said he was the number one target.(y) Love the goat.

Couple of thoughts....

- I doubt Fryers is on more than Livermore, did Jake's contract not get a big bump when he got an England cap ?
- I've been 100% certain all summer that Bale will stay. Still am
- Dawkins has done pretty well at SJ, it could be that regular football over the past 3 odd years has served him well

Great info in the past hour or two, thank you !

Brazyid... I think you're simply speaking the truth, and begrudgingly I think you're right. If RM we're to offer a ridiculous sum of money, IE: 100m, then Levy would accept. It's enough money to finance the acquisition of at least three world class players.

Is it right? No.

Is it reality? Sadly, yes.

Bit depressing about Bale, there are many points for ether side of the argument. Ultimately if he was going to go this summer I would consider 50/60 mil plus Jese, Coentrao and Morata then go spend as much as is needed to bring in Lamela. As much as Bale is irreplaceable that sort of deal would sort out a lot of positions with extremely talented young players that could grow significantly over a few years. With the exception of Coentrao the rest could quite easily become world class.

Come on let's not get all miserable!
Nothing's happened, it's just a bit of chat!
Paulinho's coming, Villa's coming

[My Charles Bronson commemorative plate design avatar has been updated to reflect this.
It's Paulinho, and it's not a statement on gun control in the favelas BTW]

We're all good, yeah?

Totally. And I am will hold my hand up. I did it with Dan back in the day. I understand the urge. But I at least had the legend that was Joey55 to tell me calm the f*** down. :D

I dont think Paulinho or Villa would have agreed to come if they had known Bale is leaving. So, Bale is not leaving this season.

If he does leave next season, I would rather want us take cash only transfer and buy our own targets. We cannot find like for like replacement for him. So, it would have to be what would best suit the team.

But if given the opporutnity, I would rather look at signing Julian Draxler and Eric Lamela.

We are uncomfortable with "happy". And not me. I tend to make things uncomfortable with my need to grind on others.

But in general, we get a bit happy and we find a way to disrupt that. We would rather chase a rumor that makes us mad/sad/etc. than listen to truth that is good.

I imagine a lot of clubs have supporters like this.

Would be very surprised if Fryers was on more than £10k p/w to be honest (as opposed to the couple of grand he was offered to stay up North), Man U are tight as hell with their youth player wages unless they're an absolute star - they trade on their big club status.
When Welbeck broke into the England team, was playing pretty well and involved in a contract dispute at Old Trafford I'm almost certain it leaked out that they were offering £15k p/w and the player/agents wanted £40k.
Any notion of paying our youth team players £20/30k would surely be knocked on the head sharpish by Levy, and rightly so. :cautious:
