Yeh I think Levy will still be active on deadline day. Now is Baldini and AVB time, but when they haven't managed to secure all the players they need (and I really can't see us spending all this money just to have our season derailed by lack of cover at CB) then Levy will step in and get in the short-term bargain. I could easily see us signing an experienced CB and maybe a striker on deadline day. Think after the Willian and Lamela (possibly) we will be done until after the Arsenal game.

Not enough HG players to have an eligible squad in that case.

Ah but this is why Misfit is the best.

He has totally debunked the fuck out that myth. You don't need any HG players. We can have ZERO HG players. True Story.

The rule is this

"To ensure that Premier League Clubs continue to produce top home-grown talent, the 20 Clubs introduced a Home Grown Player rule from the start of the 2010/11 campaign. Clubs cannot name more than 17 non home grown players aged over 21. For example some clubs will have a squad list of 23 because they may have 17 over 21 non home grown players. "

So worry not.

Christ. He said he could buy '4 or 5 top players' with £30m for Modric. With the Bale money he'd be able to afford a whole squad!

Redknapp took us to the QF of th CL without the (approximate) 80 million that we are alleged to be spending this transfer window. I'd expect silverware for this kind of investment, and expect it this season. I have belief in what AVB is trying to do but i'd like to see some success on the pitch with the huge investment being made before ridiculing a former successful manager.

IF Bale did stay, with what we have (inc Willian), I can't comprehend just how possibly things could be.

Big ask to go win the title, but if Lemala, the left back involved too - I'd expect Bale to be out and out goalscorer, with no need to bring in another striker.

Imagine a line up like this...

Paulinho - Capoue

Lemala - Bale - Willian

Soldado

Thats not even considering Sandro...

I know I'm getting well ahead of myself, which I don't normally do with these things, but thought I'd enjoy it for a moment.

That is a frightening line up..

Won't that leave us a little exposed at the back?

Soldado, Defoe, Paulinho, Chadli, Sandro, Kapoue, Lennon, Dembele, Lamela, Holtby and (apparently?) Townsend.

All of these players will need to play games to be considered for the WC.

and no 20 games is not going to get them into their respective teams as none of them are shoe ins for their squads..
A good campaign in all the cups should get us approx 60 games = 30 games per player. If you consider sub appearances as games then 35 games each - easily enough plus there will be injuries giving the others more game time. AVB will juggle the players to fit the team they play against so I wouldn't worry about unhappy players. Our midfield is going to be super amazing (with or without Bale) and imagine 70 mins in we bring on 3 other superstars - that is what wins games although I worry if Soldado gets injured.

Redknapp had arguably a more talented squad than AVB inherited last year (considering Modric, VDV and King all left the squad right before the season began and Kaboul was out the entire year). The transfer market has also changed even in that short space of time with a huge influx from Man City, PSG, Monaco, Getafe etc. inflating prices to new levels. The new TV deal has pushed things even further with mid-table clubs like Norwich, Swansea and Southampton also spending lots of money.

No doubt it is a big spend but AVB obviously has the men at the top convinced that he is the right man to back and considering that he got a record points haul with an inferior side to the one Redknapp had I think it's fair. Kind of a perfect storm for us making signings (new money, new training facility right from the start of pre-season, other top clubs in transition, need to spend to get Bale to stay etc.)

Some of our signings have been left field and quickly advanced, not the usual months of serenading, look at Capoue and Willian.

So I wouldnt be surprised, we made a move for Moutinho again, apparently Monaco are considering falcao to go if they are forced to pay tax but he isn't cheap enough for anyone out there.

I think Willian was quite a unique situation. We clearly wanted him last summer but Anzhi came in with a big bid and we didn't have the money available to splash last summer like it seems we do this summer. Now they've made him available we've come in and done business quickly.

It's just such a cool summer to be a Spurs fan. Can't wait to watch how this group of players will develop.

Agree, but I hope that we end up with more than the CC come next May. If we don't qualify for the CL after spending this amount on AVB's targets then i fear this project will all end in tears.

On the contrary, we wouldn't spend this much money if we were just going to boot AVB after another fifth place finish. We aren't just buying good undervalued players anymore, we are buying his players, and if we brought in somebody else it would be very costly and inefficient for them to undo all his work and reshape the team in a completely different way so soon. We are letting him build his project because Levy believes in it, and unless he tanks and ends up in the bottom half I think we'll see at least a two or three year period for him to get results.

Lloris, Friedal, Gomes, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Contreau, Paulinho, Sandro, Capuoe, Dembele, Holtby, Willian, Chadli, Lamela, Adebayor, Soldado

That's 16. Any under 21? Any "homegrown"? Room for one more, e.g. a centre back. Maybe Archer is our third keeper ahead of Gomes, which would free up one more spot. Assume if Ade goes it will be a non-homegrown replacement.

What a pile of shit. No new ITK for 5+ hours. Why are people letting sleep get in the way?!

I was to see a knackered looking avb and willian with a shirt now showing they've put the hours in overnight to make this happen asap.

What a great 24hrs of ITK!

Looks like Willian-Lamela story is well down the pecking order in Marca. Even day before yesterday story of Raul saying Bale is expensive is placed higher than this.
It looks almost like a footnote - 'Oh by the way Tottenham signing Willian & Lamela for 70m euro"

They reported Bale going to Cardiff shopping center in headline. Surely regardless of any possible gag order, this news should have been reported at a wider level

I wonder whats going on...Could goat bleatings be true ?

Can't see some of these signings hanging around through their prime without playing CL footie, and Levy for sure would want a better return on this record investment than having to wait another three years.
