I love how AVB seems so thrilled to be here. I loved Harry but he always seemed detached from the club - I think Andre realises that he's (somewhat) lucky to be here and that he's got a point to prove. Delighted to have him at the helm.

Also him being handsome as fuck helps.

He signed a 5+2 contract iirc but at least let AVB see Gio before we speculate whether he stays or not?
So potentially a 2 yr extension to be had if he has a good season? Fair enough. Worst case scenario is he goes this window. If he is given a chance by AVB and takes it then we're looking at a new contract or a big, phat fee from a Malaga or someone if he doesn't want to sign.

How many trouble makers would we even have. We obviously had a number of players that were unhappy under Harry due to playing time, but I don't remember any Chelsea level malcontents.
Indeed. Not trouble-makers per se but those who might not be too fond of the changes will be shown the door would be the best way of seeing it. Shit or get off the pot. If it's true.

Just been nosing around in the Goats Gaff. There's some thats come to pass, some that ain't and some that looks like shite in hindsight. Not knocking any of the info or the sources of course but it is a reminder that salt should be liberally applied and that things can change very quickly.

You can get arrested for that! ;)

Some of the Ade wage chat today was bordering on the hysterical. I mean if you really consider it there's only 5 real options:

A) The £150,000 a week figure is wrong.
B) The figure is correct but part of it is a lump sum signing on fee so it's not what he'll be getting every week in his pay packet.
C) The figure is correct, we've decided to up our wages and we have the investment to pay for it.
D) The figure is correct and City are paying some of it.
E) The figure is correct, we don't have investment but Levy's tired of being a tight arse and is gambling the lot on being Euro champions by 2014.

Now I think E might be wrong - just a wild guess you understand - and I think C is probably unlikely as is D. So that leaves A and B to my mind.

But whether I'm right or wrong I think nearly all would agree that, fiscally at least, Levy runs a very tight ship and is an excellent chairman. So any hand wringing over this by people basically means that Levy can no longer be trusted to properly manage our finances and he's potentially jepordising us and our future.

Considering everything that's gone before does anyone really believe that?

Defoe will get us goals coming on as sub but its better to have 2 lone strikers of equal quality competing for 1 place and 1 quick forward right player who could play the lone role and Kane as energy back up

But we shouldn't accept less then 10m

Adebayor, Damiao and Remy?

I would love for us to sign those three. Would be absolutely perfect. I really hope we push the boat out for them. Remy's versatility alone would be such a plus. I'm sure we could sign them with the Modric money... and must have enough in the club coffers... after such a quiet spending 2-3 years...and with the money from the players we sell this window (Kranj & Corluka so far) for Moutinho and Lloris?

Ok young Misfit we'll put it down to a momentary lapse of judgement and leave it at that this time. But woe betide if it happens again - it'll mean 10 of the best boy....and the strap as well...

I can only see Ade + 1

I'm not sure, save the investment rumours having legs, we do have vast gobs of money to spend. Sure, we obviously have some and likely another £35m+ from Modric's sale to add to that but the season before last we spent an extra £30m on wages due to CL bonuses, so the extra CL revenue was taken up by that and have spent a £40m+ chunk of change on the training ground over the last few yrs.

If we can squeeze out Ade, Moutinho and possibly Lloris from that and get in a second striker - likely a punt on a younger cheaper player from the tundras of Europe, we'll have done great business.

Getting Remy and Leandro at a cost well north of another £30m - not seeing it myself.

Akqa's tweet means one of two things. Either the French are running away from the Germans again, or Lloris is coming to Spurs. I haven't seen the news today so I would say it is about a 75% shot of the former - I would bet on it being the French running away again but the odds are terrible. Guess I gotta put some money on Lloris.

Goat's said Defoe been at Reading for talks.
I'm rather concerned that no-one has asked if this is the 'usual' source...???

My concern is that if no-one has asked this 3 hours later, have I missed something and I'm going to be shot down in flames for asking the question??? If so... You haven't seen me, I wasn't here, and this post really isn't here. It's just a figment of your imagination.

Remy is that missing piece in the AVB puzzle, I hope it comes true. The last piece to definitely be in the mix for the CL spots.

JJ posts ITK to Twitter. He doesn't need to use the Goat, IIRC
