love your 'blue sky' however I think Ron Jeremy, Ron Atkinson and Ron McDonald are all more viable options sir ;-)
Hudd would be distraught if we sold him & replaced him with a McDonalds, though I'd consider it a fair deal.

I'm as gutted we didn't get Villa as anyone but we don't have unlimited funds.

Villa himself said it had nothing to do with funds. A. Madrid simply moved quicker/and or showed more interest.

Our attention has switched to Benteke, who will cost £20m or thereabouts, whereas the fee for David Villa was less than £5m. Even taking into account Villa's steeper wage package, Benteke still represents a more expensive option.

So no, this "we don't have unlimited funds" argument won't wash in this instance.

Regarding David Villa, this is a player who has never wanted or had the balls to, leave Spain and play in the PL or any other league for that matter. The amount of times over the years that I have witnessed various sets of fans from different clubs eagerly awaiting the supposed arrival of Villa, yet only to keep on hearing here in VLC that he wont leave Spain. He could have so easily gone to liverpool, how easy would that have been to link up with Rafa and co but he didnt, he could have come to us maybe even the goons but he doesnt have the balls or desire to quit Spain.

And whilst his transfer fee would have been low by comparison to say Benteke, he would have still cost somewhere in the region of probably 12 million for two seasons and then what?

So if it was not about funds (we had agreed with Villa and Barca) on what did they move faster? Finding a pen?

Yes but the reason we take time to do the deals is to try and get the best possible deal due to the fact we don't have unlimited funds...

Where does Villa even mention it was Spurs that he was referring to? He has never mentioned us and nobody at Spurs has ever mentioned Villa, he could just as easily have been talking about Liverpool or Arsenal.

Benteke won't necessarily be a more expensive option. In four years villa will have no value Benteke will either still be scoring for us or making us a profit, the difference between price and value is the cost.

Perhaps they wanted to wrap up the deal more quickly? It's anyone's guess. All we know is that Villa himself said AM moved faster. Unless he's lying, what are we supposed to believe?

But in this instance, AM paid less than £5m for Villa. Can you not see that his moving there instead of here has nothing to do with funds? Either we weren't interested enough, or Villa didn't want to move away from Spain. Funds don't come into the equation IMO.

It's a good process, we move so slow the move collapses and we keep our unlimited funds

I don't understand how people can come to this conclusion. He did not say this

"He told reporters: 'We had a move to the Premier in mind but then Atleti appeared and within three days all my personal terms had been agreed.'From a career point of view, they weren't lacking anything. "
They finished third and will play in the Champions League. They beat Real Madrid to win the Copa del Rey.'Starting from today, the best club in the world for me is Atletico Madrid.'"

This says he had a deal set up to a prem team, but a decent Spanish side came in with CL football and he jumped at this chance.

AM moved faster so it was first come first served was it? Yeah right! So he'd have gone to timbuctoo if they'd been quickest? Cobblers.
