He's worth what a Club are prepared to pay, so claiming he isn't worth ten million is a bollox statement to make.
So Torres was worth that £50 million? Bentley that £16 million? Fellaini that £27 million?

Just cause club is willing to pay X amount doesn't mean that player is actually worth that amount, could be worth more could be worth less. But I do agree with the £10million statement is koo-koo

I'm sure he knows in the current market he is worth that, but I think he's simply saying (in Yankspurs fashion) how it's dangerous that the current market is inflating a player like Lallana's value, and I agree.

Exactly. I'm sure his £10m statement was hyperbole, though.

If I'm wrong and Yankspurs is just an idiot, I'll hold my hands up - but I don't think it's fair to jump on him for his opinion because he's such a ludicrous personality.

They were always going to ask high premiums for all their players, especially from us. Look at Lallana. They wanted 25 mill for him. He's not even worth 10. I'd rather look at other options then overpay for a Southampton player.

Oh, nope. Seems he is just saying he isn't worth that. Didn't see this post. Ksozbai x

I reckon Remy should snap Levy's hand off if he wants to sign him. Its not like he's Lionel Messi and can take his pick of clubs. So If Arsenal end up signing someone else, and we also decide to sign a different forward, (which with the world cup being nigh shouldn't be too hard to do) His options might narrow somewhat.

I like Yankspurs, but the other day he thought Eriksen was a Modric replacement :)

Can't help feeling that sad little inconclusive bit of ITK was put there by someone who wants there to be some ITK - for us. Either to stop us drifting away or just felt sorry that we run out of anything to say.

This looks like it's going to get racist real quick

Nah, my girlfriend was born in Shanghai, just pointing out the hypocrisy and the irony because it's stupid we still have these stereotypical assumptions for how much a nationality knows about the game.

By next weekend you'll all be begging for spurs not to sign anyone from the England team that got knocked out in the group stages without scoring a goal.

That includes lallana.

You don't think Rooney justified his fee to Man Utd?
At times yes, but he's also been a bit of a pain.
He's also never scored a single goal in the world cup finals in 8 games. What's that all about?
Ferdinand on the other hand has generally been awesome for England.

That's hardly relevant to whether he's justified his transfer fee and wages.

I really enjoy the fact that Arsenal know we're there just waiting and waiting and waiting.... But Arsenal are nice guys so I'm sure they'll move on quickly with their business for our sake.

After all, they bought Ozil with ages of last summer's transfer window remaining

I think with the players you've mentioned it was a case of the clubs not wanting to sell. Just like Bale last year.

Unfortunately, EVERY player has a price.

To Liverpool, Blackburn and Everton, you bet! (Except Liverpool promptly blew £35m of the Torres money on Carroll in a Damien Comolli masterstroke.)

As someone posted earlier, a player's value is whatever the selling club says it is. Southampton don't want to sell Lallana any more than we wanted to sell Bale, but, like us, realise that ultimately they may not have any choice in the matter. Therefore they need to maximise the financial profit they can gain from their asset. If the buying club goes along with the quoted price, it's caveat emptor. From their point of view, only time will tell if the player's been 'worth' the outlay.
