If a shop wants to get space for next years items it puts current year items on sale.

KWP = current years stock
Wan Bissaka, Aarons etc. = next years stock

Hence the difference in valuations

Lol! Palace put a ridiculous £80m tag on Wilf Zaha and we get pelters for putting £20m on KWP? If we’re playing in the same market then we play by the same rules.

I was torn on our valuation of KWP but that is spot on. In reality 10-15 and 40-50 are more realistic but they want to ask 80 for Zaha then 20 for KWP is more than fair

They put that price tag on Zaha because they don't want to sell him. It's fine putting A £20m price tag on KWP if we don't want to sell him but presumably we do.

Spurs fans still haven't adjusted to the prices of the new market. 20mill is not a lot. I'm sure the deal will be less in the end, but it is a fair initial valuation.

But Zaha won't move for 80m will he? And I bet my left bollock KWP won't go for 20m either.

Worth understanding value and cost for players development too

example - the amount of free coaching the kids get costs an absolute fortune, well over 100k a year for a championship club to provide so a club like spurs probably looking at a good 259/309k a year investment in each player.
You say a kid has been there since 9, it’s a fair whack. Costs go up considerably when 13 and again at scholar - money needs to be recouped, otherwise you operate at a loss.

Regardless of how much you spend coaching a youngster it has no effect on how much he’s worth. You could spend £30k on repairs on your car yet when you come to sell the say 10 year old car with 90k on the clock it’s still only worth the market rate, you don’t recoup the thousands you’ve spent on repairs and services.

KWP has come through the academy, he’s only played a few top flight games and this season has been a rabbit in headlights... he’s not shown anything to suggest he’s EPL standard. The only thing boosting his value is the fact he’s homegrown.

I do agree, I think KWP will go for about £12-15m but £20m is conservative in this market still. It’s madness but it’s not a proper business, it’s football.

So you’d like Levy more if he sold players for less, thereby freeing up less money to spend on replacements?

I personally would prefer it if he actually sold players. If he can't sell him for 20m then he isn't "freeing up" any money at all, is he?

And for the life of me I don't understand the argument people are making by bringing up the prices paid for established Premier league (or in 25m-Trippier's case, international) players. I'm a KWP fan and believe Poch fvcked him over by giving him practically zero competitive football for four years, but KWP had not proven anything anywhere.

ITK said KWP at £20 million with favourable terms which makes £20 million much attractive.

appreciate these discussions aren’t ITk related and I don’t want to go through a ban.
It all adds up mate, have to consider the cost of investment given in the early years too.
My son has a buyout clause in his contract. Should another club want him, they’ll have to part with £120k.
He is 13.

that price has gone up each year he’s had a contract.

You can't just ignore that we sell the likes of Bentaleb for £17 million and that covers all those acdemy costs for a few years. We don't need every player to run at a profit and it's ridiculous to think they will. We need the system as a whole to not be a huge cost sink.

Anyway, this needs to get back on topic.

Troy Parrot. We all know he had a very minor operation few weeks ago. The view of JM, he needs to show he can physically handle stepping up. It is believed they want him to knuckle down and sign his new 5 year contract (1 year option so 4+1) offer. He hasn’t been showing what’s he showed earlier in training. Also heard he was under the weather last week.

Don't know how to take that. The guy is talented but way too early for him to fill any first teamed as yet. Hopefully he shows more and signs a new contract so he can look forward to the future with us
