So no Aarons or Ferguson this window then. Hopefully we can get someone decent in as it really is a problem position for us.

I’d be taking this news a lot worse if I wasn’t encouraged by Tanganga admittedly. Hopefully we can muddle through until the summer with Aurier/Davies and then the reverse with Tanganga/Sessegnon. I’d rather that than sign somebody who isn’t a first choice target.

Thanks Dov

dragon1 on rb: ship sailed on arrons, wba not selling right now, we are in talks with another rb

on only getting loans: not true

I'm ok with this. Aarons could've been an immediate starter but Ferguson would probably have been a backup/rotation option initially.

Either way he says we're in talks with another RB and Tanganga's performance the other night gives us an option there.

Aurier has done better under JM so it's not as desperate as it may have seemed before IMO. Still think CDM and Striker are the main areas of concern.

I'm personally just happy with how active the club seem to be.

thanks dov, for 45m more like torpedoed than sailed imo but as expected following the previous itk. at least it's good to see we're active in at least one of the areas we're desperate for.

Im actually happy about this i didnt want either as i dont rate either for an immediate impact or improvement to the desired level we need plus over inflation of aarons especially.

Positive news were defo looking at RB, and in general not just loans

Told this morning not looking at defenders this window. Jose thinks he can improve them through training, and the money would be better spent elsewhere

Has he met them yet?

I kid I kid ..

Thanks Trix, have to think the emergence of Tanganga may have changed a few things.

I would concur if he's talking CB.

RB should still be a priority but whether Striker is more important I'll let Jose decide.

Trix's info does tie into what Jose has said himself in that he is happy to work with the squad that we have. Tanganga clearly has caught the eye and potentially is like a brand new signing for us in a badly needed position so it makes sense that we focus our money in other areas.

Makes sense to me.

Not just Tanganga, but the relatively imminent returns of both Hugo and Ben Davies should make a big difference. No more Jan at left-back -where he's clearly struggled - and a better goalie behind Sanchez and Alderweireld will hopefully tighten things up.

Looks like young Dennis Cirkin is knocking on the door too

I don’t mind not signing any defenders until the summer, as long as we get a CDM. Any decent CDM will help the existing defence massively.

Tanganga’s emergence probably has made a difference along with Davies and Lloris on their way back. My creeping suspicion based on nothing that we’ll have our say on Bruno before United move is sealed is only boosted by this.

I'm not too down about that Trix ITK. Tanganga is a real bonus and the return of Davies and Lloris should help us greatly. Davies should allow us to continue with Aurier in that advanced role that suits him. You also have to consider available options and January isn't the biggest market. I'd love to see the funds diverted to real quality like Bruno Fernandes. I imagine it's more wanting funds for a striker however (even though we've been linked to a load of bargain basement players outside of Piatek).

At CB it sounds like Koulibaly will only leave in the summer. Umtiti and Ake could play the tucked in LB role well, but is it worth dropping £40m there when it seems tailor made for Davies anyway? Umtiti has injury issues too.

I imagine we'll still have an eye out on RB opportunities between now and the window end.

Not to discredit Tanganga at all, as he's been really good, but surely we aren't really abandoning plans to buy a right back because he did a decent job there against a poor Championship side.

It must be that our RB target/s aren't available until the summer, and we've taken the decision to wait rather than bring in plan B/C/D.

DM does now seem to be the biggest priority along with a CF.

It's probably more that he did a decent job at RB against Mane and an excellent Liverpool team
