It feels like every thread is currently filled with people arguing about Levy.
Can we not fill the ITK thread with the same boring drivel please?

Before we all start going mad and arguing with each other maybe we should think of our poor old Mum's and also are balloon knots and leave it here....as A&C will be on the prowl with his ban stick ready to backscuttle some chutney channels

Spurious posts for the ITK thread but if we’re discussing Levy then all I’ll say is there’s a big assumption we’re at the destination but actually we’re still on the journey. Don’t throw the driver off yet.

But what if he’s blindly following the broken Satnav and we can see he’s heading straight for the sea? ;)

Such a shame that Enic and levy are all about the money rather than glory. We’re in such a good position but just can’t take that final step unless they push us there. Thanks herc for all the updates but ultimately feels like we’re just watching the same mouse in the same wheel again and again and again.

Don't forget that these managers get paid handsomely for the privilege.

1 big gravy train.

if you want an insight to DL, and how he thinks, then listen to the man himself, from an interview he gave just a month ago:

"“Wouldn’t it be boring if we were guaranteed to be there [in the CL]? Obviously, we aspire to be there every season but there is no guarantee whatever we do. When we are there, we want to go as far as possible in the various competitions but sometimes it is the luck of the draw. We just want to go as far as we can.”'

Compare that to Liverpool Chairman, Tom Werner after liverpool missed out on the league last year ""We obviously didn’t win the league but we’ll be back next year and we’ve got a lot of motivation to win the league next year. I’m excited.”

“As special as last season was for Liverpool, it was bittersweet towards the end. As successful as we were, we didn’t finish the job in the Premier League."

"To have the opportunity to win the Champions League was so special. We came into this experience wanting to win trophies for the team and for our fans. It was really gratifying to witness that in Madrid. It was an extraordinary evening.”

On transfers: “John (W Henry), Mike (Gordon) and I will leave the transfer business to those who know it so well – Jurgen and (sporting director) Michael Edwards....Our role at FSG is to support the manager and the people around him in the best way that we possibly can.”"

The lack of clarity around the desire to actually win is clear in the investment in the squad and results in the pitch. Don't expect things suddenly to change because we have a genuinely world class manager - we will never win major honours with Levy in charge

Edit: for those that think these are the comments made after winning the CL, the leadership at liverpool has been consistent in their ambition:

Here's a quote from Werner in 2011: "I know how sport can have such a great impact on your life and just lift you up. Our dream is to win trophies. We want to have more trophies in our trophy case. I know the joy. I've seen the pictures when you all came back from Istanbul and to see the thousands and thousands of people lining the streets in Liverpool... that is such a dream."

This is him in 2015: "We all know the challenge that we saw when we came into the club five years ago and I think we are proud when we walked into the stadium today and we showed Jürgen the new main stand that is being constructed. Until we win more trophies we won’t be satisfied.”

This is Werner before the final, in mid-may 2019 "You don't get a lot of roses for coming in second. Our focus is on bringing that trophy back to Liverpool this year. I remember when we locked in our position as one of the top four teams qualifying for the Champions League for next season, some people almost took it for granted because our goal really all year was to actually win the league.”

John Henry before Liverpool lost to Madrid in the final in 2018: “We can … outspend other clubs throughout Europe,”

One big issue with Levy is he doesn’t realise that footballing assets decline over time and that other clubs improve. When we achieve something (lasagnegate season), Nelson saha window, 2nd with Poch. He feels that what we have is always going to deliver those results.

Cheer up! Still expect the very least one signing before window closes;)
Thanks Hercules - but the questions are -
Is it someone JM wants and needs
Or a player DL can get but makes no difference to squad? Had a few of those alternative players over last few seasons.

Don't think we're just one step away anymore sadly.

I'm not confident at all about Levy's ability to take us to the next level, but at the same time I just can't believe that he'd be so negligent as to not back his new manager at all.

I still expect to see a striker come through the door (Jose's moaning should see to that), but I doubt we'll be doing much business beyond that. I suspect all concerned have conceded that top 4 isn't happening and Jose's probably been told to wait for the summer window. Whether we'll actually do much in that window is another question entirely.

Our transfer buisness was bad during stadium development. But IMHO in summer we made very good deals. We bought players players that we all thought will improve us. Maybe it didn't turned as we thought it would, as Ndombele is injured and Lo Celso with Sessegnon are takeing time yo settle, 90% of us were happy after summer window. It is now obvious that we need bigger rebuild but I dont think that anybody expected that so many players will have to be replaced half a year ago.
We now bought new CM which was one of the position we needed to address.

I think we need to realise that we need big rebuild which will take more than one winter window. Cause buying 7 new players never turns out any good. We already did that here.

So that is why I refuse to throw shit on DL at least until summer.

Poch talked about 'being brave' and "doing things differently" but it's not just about buying players - it's about your approach to squad building. @Hercules post explaining the process was informative, and we've seen evidence when we miss out on targets, or signing players late in the window because we faff about

Refusal to appoint a DoF (if true) says a lot about how highly DL regards himself - but our transfer strategy has been dreadful for a number of years

The millionaire businessman Daniel Levy doesn't understand that assets decline. Ok then. Can I remind people losing their shit that we've also had ITK from Trix saying Levy has wanted Jose for years. Pinch of salt with everything as always.

Shock as chairman who won biggest prize in club football is far more optimistic than chairman who had just reluctantly dismissed prized manager after 12 months of relegation form

Herc, thanks for the info.

We just have to hope that someone who has DL’s ear can make him see that we finally have something we’ve wanted, actually no, something we NEEDED and that’s a winner in José.

We have the infrastructure in the facilities, the stadium and training ground and now a proven manager with one of the best records around. It’s now or never, no more fucking around.
