Or he thinks he is!

AVB - "Thanks for finally listening to my advice about bringing in Brazilian players. So where is this new Brazilian striker you said we've signed?"

DL - "Erm...well...allow me to introduce you to Gary Hooperinho...."

He's a capable creator on the ball. He's got such great touch/dribbling. He's not a Moutinho/Modric, though. He's more of a penetrating midfielder, but his final ball is usually pretty awesome, whether it be a shot or playing a teammate into advantageous positions. He and Dembele would just ruin defenses.

You write up players so much better than me. STOP it. (y)

Put it this way he isn't known for his passing from what I have seen anyway. But he can pretty much do everything you would be looking for in a midfielder and has a few tricks as well. Don't think he would come cheap 15 to 20 million I would think. And would need to get him quick before confederations cup.

Well, that's that one put to bed then. Next? :p

If you're right and I assume you are, then the AVB's idea is to have a strong midfield with a lot of pace and power that could destroy and outrun the opposition, which could make more space for wingers and forward to shine.

And also make fluid changes sou there will be no focal point for the opposition whatsoever.

New Goat info...

The Goat has some broadly un-surprising ITK from what he considers a reliable source. Most of it just confirms what is being said by others: The Goat's source said...............
  • Bale will not be sold this Summer under any circumstances and hasn't been agitating to leave. His young baby is a factor in this.
  • Huddlestone, Livermore and possibly Parker (if we get a good offer) are expected to depart, leaving Sandro as the only remaining defensive midfielder.
  • Rose and Townsend will be in the first team squad next season.
  • He doesn't think anyone will be interested in buying Adebayor because of his wages.
  • Levy is a nightmare to do business with (surprise) and his habit of dragging deals out to the last minute aggravates the other directors as well as the fans. I didn't get the impression that he expects this to change.
  • The decision to remove Redknapp was motivated by a wide variety of factors, not just last season's slump in form. Quite a lot of it had to do with the club rule on public statements that "everything goes through Donna [Cullen]", a rule that Harry was obviously unable to follow whenever he was confronted with a microphone and a reporter.
  • We are still trying to sign Damiao and also Paulinho

Part in bold is one of the worse ITK I've heard, seems like we are in for a busy 31st of August again.

Bit of a strange update. Was hoping the Brazilian we are after is Bernard...

Doesn't sound like Paulinho could provide us with the creativity we are lacking in the middle of the park? Wouldn't be against selling Parker and Livermore and just bringing him in.

Rather look elsewhere for a striker than LD but hey ho.

I think if we had a midfield that can play defence and attack in equal measure and an ultra creative/goalscoring front 3 then that might work well, and also have a Playmaker like Carroll to step in against teams that sit back.
So 2 creative players and 4 that are comfortable in attack and defence.. all making up combinations for a different midfield 3 depending on the opposition.
Paulinho would fit like a glove into our midfield..

You all know Levy is gonna jack us up with his bullshit time tinkering, right?

Just get ready...all I'm saying.

[edit] just noticed that that sounds like some sort of itk! It's not lol Just expressing the inevitable;)

Maybe AVB believes that Sandro can act as a deep-lying pass spraying destroyer. If he thinks that, he may start to turn his attention from a pass-master midfielder to putting two guys in front of him that can be supplied the won ball from Sandro and simply charge towards defenses and put defenders on their backheels while playing our attacking front in.

That too, agree.
There's a lot of potential in that possible trio, but let's not get our hopes up too high, still a lot of variables.

I know we'd all like to get all our business done early and get our squad sorted before the season starts but guess what, so does every other team!

A club our size and the business model we adopt then the way Levy operates is entirely appropriate - anything else is just a huge risk.

One thing I like about the latest ITK is that it supports my belief that AVB is now being listened to and trusted. It seems to me that scouting players was one of AVB's main strengths, but that there wasn't really much time (or confidence) to back a fresh new manager last summer.

We're being linked to lots of different players. Hopefully that suggest we're casting our net wide in the hope of pulling in one or two big fish, rather than pinning our hopes on a small handful of targets. Having plenty of realistic alternatives will probably strengthen our bargaining position as well.

Either way, if AVB's not getting a say in transfer dealings then Levy should probably just leave. AVB's proven that he has a vision in mind, and while some of the targets may be too lofty in terms of our financial capabilities, the ones within reach should be given full attention.

What I won't understand if we fail to follow through on the 'Brazilian experiment' is that we tested the water, with great success, with Sandro.

What part if Levy's business plan doesn't intend on replicating that kind of deal year in year out?

Um... the bit that involves paying a transfer fee? ;)

I do wish our chairman was nicer.

I wonder if the reliable source remembers that not one of our ten most expensive transfers were made in the last 48 hours of the transfer window and only 2 of the 10 were even made in August ?

I would also hazard a guess that it wasn't so much Redknapp not going through Cullen, but what he said every time he opened his mouth. If he'd had some common sense or a sense of decorum about what he said Donna Cullen wouldn't have given a shit.

See I want to believe this but I'm not convinced.
The 'Committee' still exists, we have no DOF beyond Levy and we've been here before: witness the Oscar deal from last summer.
As such we are hugely vulnerable to getting gazumped again & we really could do with... I can't believe I'm saying this... doing our business early *hangs head in shame*

Also, despite it being widely quoted that Andre went a-scouting when he was in the dole, I've seen precious little evidence of this supposed formidable scouting he's done. Last year he wanted players he's worked with before (hello Harry) and Brazilian stars, this year he's seemingly after World Class strikers (Villa) and Brazilians again.
No offence, I rate Andre as our coach but any one of us from this board could cobble together that kind of superstar wish list...

I hope I'm wrong and Andre is the loudest voice in the 'Committee' room but our first couple of signings might be revealing here; Vydra or Damaio, McCarthy or Paulinho, Ince or Bernard.

We'll see!

Just throwing some possible names in the hat re the Journalist post. "lesser known" Brazillians Carlos More(sp) and Bruma both young but highly rated MFs and Joao Mario, Wellington Nem and Casemio all exciting young Sporting Lisbon players and all had some first team experience and we were/had been linked with Nem and Mario a couple of years ago.

And those of you angry with Leandro, please remember a lot of South Americans say what their agents and owners want them to say and don't forget Agent Sandro has been at work during his enforced leave.

Sounds like Wellington Nem is definitely leaving. In his post match interview he said "I was on bench for other reasons, you will all know soon".
