but another BIG) problem is, who gonna be able to controll the the midfield against newcastle when Luka are out ? Just take a quick look at the game when we played against valencia. Either of our midfielders was capable to hold the ball and build up the game.

Dont understand why we always do business the very last transfer days? it just makes it hard to get the team fully ready for the season... And can also be very risky!

I think we can safely expect that we won't be starting with Jenas and Livermore at CM. :)

I think your user name offers a clue to a possible solution.

Yes with no one to run our midfield we will struggle vs Newcastle. Can always hope we will sort it out by then, but chances are we have to get creative in that position for our first game atleast.

Rafa have played quite a bit as a CM for Holland, so maybe he could do a temp job there if he is fit enough.

Welcome to SC btw:)

I think the way we slowly brought Sandro into first team contention overall was very well thought out. Got him up to speed over a reasonably long timeframe (albeit with some injury time there too iirc) and I believe this is how we'll bring Damiao into the first team.

...and it'll work and he will be top PL goalscorer from 2013 - 2032 and he'll never leave to join Man U to win everything (...Teddy...) because we'll be winning everything. And Modric will stay and we'll sign Lloris and we'll break the record of most clean sheets by anyone ever. And AVB will change his name to Andre Villas-Bill-Nicholson and everything will be great. Right?

Yeh. you are probably right there. But i tought about the rest of the season. Need someone with that bit extra quality and speed in the middle hope that we can close the deal with moutinho soon. that would be a great player to replace Luka. COYS !

I agree, but don't think Moutinho is the answer, not for the money quoted anyway.

Bale VDV Lennon

Huddlestone Sandro

I would be very happy with this if Ade or Leandro was up top

So would I if VDV could run 90 mins all season.

But he can't.

I'll be very happy if the striking ITK is true, but we still need a Moutinho or equivalent.

It's going to be really hard to leave Siggy off the field to start the season I'd imagine. You could argue he's been one of the most consistent players this preseason. I think he's looked great and to think he just got here a little over a month ago is unreal.

I think it depends on whether or not he manages to stay clear of hamstring injuries. With a bit of rotation I am optimistic that we'll be seeing him play 90 minutes pretty regularly.

The last couple of seasons he's been playing with niggles almost constantly, as he's been thrown back into the first eleven as soon as he was off his crutches.

They will compete and we will rotate. We are no longer one of those small clubs that have to play their big players all the time in fear of them leaving. Leandro will probably take time to adapt to the league anyway

That's a nice concept, but strikers, more than most thrive on rhythm and big egos. Sooner or later one will emerge as a clear favourite, the one that gets chosen for the big games etc, and I would imagine and the other one will get miffed. But we won't be the first club to have this problem.
