If the coach and the club have made it clear to him he’s expendable then what can he do. He’s definitely an obvious one to move on to free up a squad spot.

Make a sign that says Argentina, Golf, Tottenham?

Their official announcement quoted that we paid €60 mill with an additional €10 mil in add ons but I’d imagine Levy has structured the deal very shrewdly so we’ll likely have that transfer paid off by 2030

Levy had the Honey plugin installed, so by the time he got the checkout he used his 25% discount code and also got free delivery

Dragon is on point on everything! Not sure about LB though, as that is one area Josè is happy with. And we have extremely high hopes for the youngster (name slipped me) Josè has been raving about publicly and privately. Kim complications is his end! Press seems to be on form this year. Aaron’s heart is coming here, and I heard this month’s ago. And he spent a lot of time chatting to our staff and players after FA Cup game. And at that time, something I mentioned behind closed doors on here, one of the Norwich directors was awestruck with our stadium, and said he felt he would be our player in the summer.

Concern for Josè, he likes him. It is the serious lack of height that is a concern to him. Serge wants to move on. We may end up having seriously reduce what we want to bring in another RB. If that deal is taking too long, it is not clear if we will sign RB as cover, as Tanganga is seen-as back up. But! Josè really wants abother RB! And sees that as priority. Problem is, Central defence, DM (DONE) striker are priorities as well. It is making the money we technically do not have work magic by wheeling and dealing. Aside from the obvious four clubs, the others are facing the same dilemma as us.

hope my synopsis makes sense.

I assume that's Cirkin

Pretty sure I’ve read that Castagne can also play on the left. Seems like it would be smart to get him in as the second RB (if we can afford it) and then have cover in two positions.

Pretty sure we didnt have any Castagne links by ITK or media that we actually want him, only that he would like to join us.

Two right backs would be very excited. New right back with Tanganga as cover across four defensive positions also exciting.

All ITK seems to be clear on one thing - Jose is well aware of our weaknesses, and appears to be insistent that they are addressed, now.

The more I’ve thought about it, the smarter it seems to let players like Lamela leave now. It feels like every window we’ve had for the last five years has been scuppered by “deadwood”, needing players off the wage bill / squad roster but being unable to shift them due to them being past their prime and not worth what Levy wants for them.

I’ve no doubt we’d be facing the same situation with Lamela 12/18/24 months down the line, and realistically with Toby in the same timeframe, so it seems smart to be actively looking at replacements now.

It’s certainly a change of direction in our transfer strategy, if it comes off, but I can’t imagine Jose being particularly compromising when it comes to getting players in the right positions to fulfill the club’s objectives.

Hmmm it's not a bad thought as Zaha could replace Lamela and be support striker to Kane plus he's home grown but U think itd be too difficult to do.

I'm not sure on the being linked with Zaha again thing but I'm prepared to play along with the idea but doesn't the Palace board f***ing hate us? Another issue IIRC it seems to rear it's head every time we've been linked aren't Man Utd due a massive sell on percentage?
One reason for the high fee.
Now if he does count as homegrown that also raises the fee but just say he comes in a Lamela leaves it potential solves a homegrown issue in one of ours is on his way to Southampton.

I can't see it happening but I'm simple. :censored:

So if Ben Davies got injured would he play Cirkin? I find it unlikely, we'd probably have Tanganga at left back which is deeply suboptimal.

@llsanjay negative rating for just stating a fact? I would attach the link to Lyons official website showing the facts but it’s most likely against rules for this thread.

Unless it is correct that we do highly rate Cirkin then we’re probably willing to give him a chance. Still a massive risk considering he hasn’t played a minute of senior football though

No, we'd probably play Rose as he hasn't gone anywhere yet.

It sounds like the plan is to bring Cirkin through, though. With that in mind, I can see why we'd want two RBs with Aurier looking to leave, leaving (current) 2 senior LBs + one youth, and Tanganga/Cirkin on the right. Not much experience there.

Is Aarons even that short? Wikipedia has him at 5ft10 (same as Kyle Walker), and Aurier at 5ft9, Rose 5ft8. Keep seeing it mentioned so checked expecting him to be a dwarf. Maybe it’s wrong, but seen that height elsewhere too.

I think it will be an interesting window.

We clearly need to make money from outgoings and this is an area in which we've been very hit and miss over the years. For every Wimmer that we've turned over for a tidy profit there's been a turd like Janssen that just won't flush.

Question is, how much of those failures to sell is down to lack of interest and how much unrealistic expectations on Levy's part?

Jose seems to have much more realistic expectations than Poch so hopefully that will stick the proverbial rocket up The Great Bald One's arse and get him in back in full wheeler-dealer mode.

It's a tough market but if we want any chance of top 4/trophies next season he'll need to find a way to back his man.

Completely agree. I think it's become increasingly clear that our inability (or lack of will) to move players on was a big part of our failure to push on after the 3rd year under Poch. We were far too passive in the market when we should have been active - even if that meant selling some players that were actually solid squad members (or even fan favourites).

Easy to say that with hindsight of course but it's obviously a big part of Fergie's sustained success at Utd, and I reckon Liverpool will also come unstuck before long if they dont start refreshing their squad this summer.

He looks shorter than all of those guys. Football Manager has him at 168cm which is more like 5 ft 6, seems about right imo.
