Who was it who called that our main new signing would be our obligation on GLC's loan? I'm very glad we've secured him but it does point to the state we're in.

If we get Bergwijn and Piatek (or decent alternative) alongside Gedson and GLC (loan to perm) it's been a strong January window IMO.

DM the only regret but maybe Jose can find a solution until the summer when there'll be more options.

So the creative accounting was to re-use the money we obtained from Eriksen Transfer to make Lo Celso move permanent?

Makes me laugh how we are now celebrating GLC's transfer twice, once in summer and now in Jan all so that Lord Levy is lauded as a genius twice :)

Agreed. Feel is a tad presumptuous to suggest GLC is the highlight

Don't knock it mate. A double signing is a double signing even if it is only one player!

Agreed but Bergwijn(IF it gets done) probably trumps the permanent trigger on GLC given that everyone knew GLC would be made permanent anyway and also judging by our transfer business thus far the last 6 months, Bergwijn is a crucial piece in the plan to replace Eriksen.

Just looking through our recent transfer history, and the only two January transfers in we've made in the past 8 seasons are:

31 Jan 2018 - Lucas Moura
28 Jan 2013 - Lewis Holtby

So, if we end this window having signed Gedson Fernandes, Gio on a perm, Bergwijn which sounds as good as done, and whichever striker is being alluded to by ITK - that represents a phenomenally busy January by our standards.

It would certainly restore some of my faith in Levy taking the rebuild here seriously, as well as suggesting that Jose is here to put his foot down and get shit done.

The most recent January transfer window I can find where we've been even nearly as busy goes all the way back to 2007-08, when we signed Gunter, Woodgate, Hutton and Gilberto.

I think it's fair to say that a number of people haven't been happy with the Club's activities over the last couple of years so getting in Mourinho and 3 players in January is certainly heading in the right direction.

I just see it as part of the game of buying him via a loan to save Betis some money. We did them a favour, and we've bought him at the first opportunity. If it was left until the summer window and he was still our biggest purchase I'd agree that we were in a bad way.

Agree, because of our history I didn't thought we would be so active in January, but to be honest, we badly need it and the CL final should have produced some unexpected cash.

Don't forget Harry's first January. Palacios, Defoe, Keane and if memory serves, Cudicini and Chimbonda. I know three of those were returning, but it was a pretty mad month.
