The budget restraints etc. Makes me wonder if the takeover rumours are true and lewis does not want to put anymore money in before he gets out.

We have been told over and over again funds are there (if you believe them)

New stadium('keeping the banks happy' new manager, paying off old manager and fee for Gio. In light of that we are linked with numerous signings now and some for the summer. Nothing indicates different behaviour for Spurs!

Add a genuine DM with mobility, power and technique, and it’s a winner of a window. I would firmly start to believe the rebuild is underway.
Eh. Its hard to do even 1 deal in January. To get 3 done would be absolutely incredible and for all the shit I give Levy, I would have to give him plaudits. We signed a CM and hopefully bringing in a striker and wide forward. 3 positions we needed reinforcements in as the plan re: replacing Eriksen obviously involves not directly replacing him and changing tactics like Liverpool did when Coutinho left. A DM will have to wait until the summer, along with the defense. Just hope Davies gets back sooner rather than later.

DL still wants CL, and with the limited funds trying to make the digits work, and keep the banks happy...

...Don’t blame DL here, as his hands are tied. He is doing everything to make it happen....
And there it is.

The banks hold our purse strings at the moment. And this will not change until we are posting figures that include new ground revenues plus naming rights deal. Until then "creative accounting"...

Thanks @Hercules. A full update, greatly appreciated

We posted 113 million profits last year didn't we, which was a record profit anywhere, lol

Dont think we will see much better than that

We posted revenues of 450m and spent 180m on wages. theres more money than even what levy knows to do with.

We also refinanced enough of the build to only need 40-50m in bond repayments a year.

If we do pull these signings off then that's a solid start and very good dealings in Jan, better than most other clubs it would seem. CDM would have been ideal, but I guess noone suitable is out there at the moment and this is better left until the summer to get our main target. Though this might be the position which could see a last min surprise if a loan or something comes up unexpectedly.

Much rather we address the CDM issue during summer. Imagine getting someone like Zakaria ?

It would be awesome...

Have to agree on the CDM point as we are crying out for someone in that position. If we could get someone decent I think it would change our whole seasons dynamic. Not sure why Jose doesn’t think it’s a priority
Maybe it is a priority but the player he really wants is not available til the summer.

Herc is posting what he is told but he is having the wool pulled over his eyes.
So far i think in all tje years of ownership ENIC(Joe Lewis) has put in £50 million as a secured loan.

ENIC want to sell the club due course for some 1-2 billion.
Lewis is one of the richest men in the world certainly in Uk, It is most unusual to undertake a billion £ capital project without asking the shareholders to introduce funds by way of a rights issue. In this case the RI wouldbe almost fully funded by ENIC . if they had introduced say £250 million additional share capital which they can easily afford they wouldnt have had their hands tied by the bank and there would be sufficient funds to enable them tto strengthen the team without bank inteference.
this money would have been recovered by the sale funds, which will be more likely if we are in CL next season.
For the life of me i cant ubderstand why they are trying to do things on the cheap whilst risking devaluing the club by losing CL and TV revenue next season.
Their short sightedness could lead to them holding the baby for much longer then they planned.
Furthermore wher is the naming rights deal whch would have given us the funds to develop the team .
Perhaps Herc can go back to his sources and get these questions abswered

Just pure speculation but id imagine some of the hold up with the naming rights is due to Levy not wanting to under sell it. We have signed saracens for a deal. Hoping to host boxing with it looking likely for next AJ fight. Music concerts. Also the NFL wembley deal runs out in 2020. So im assuming Levy is hoping to nab that game as well and then once that is upped to 3 or 4 a year for 10 years then sell the rights. Its all about maximising the return. He wants to show the full capabilities of the stadium before selling them off. Also if rumours of club being taken over are true selling the naming rights might put some investors off and on that note, ive always been.under the impression that the sale price was inclusive of the debt fornthe stadium. If they want ip to 2b for club and the stadium debt is not included then we will never be bought.

Thanks @Hercules and @Tottenhamboys for the positive info.

Any word on whether we will be making the GLC move permanent this window? My understanding is that our commitment to buy in the summer becomes conditional if we fail to qualify for next season's Champions League. Surely there's no possibility that we'll let him go in the summer, or fail to sign him at a discount this month. Right?
