Hoping to take advantage of struggling businesses in this environment is a pretty bad take imo.

Welcome to basic business tactics. Loads of mom and pop shops will go out with the big guys (walmart, costco, etc) staying in their spots and getting stronger due to mom and pop shops shutting down.

Can't be that many independents left! Pity really because a basic tenet of capitalism surely has to be choice but corporatism seems to almost remove that choice through mergers and acquisitions.

I see this so often:
Financial Crisis: Bankers are bad, the rest of are goog
Covid: All businesses owners are bad, the rest of us are good
Forever: Politicians are bad, the rest of us are good

I'll tell you this much - if you're leading something, whether it's a football club, a business, a nation, you are answerable.

Whether you're answering to shareholders, fans or the people, an excuse for failure at the end of 'but I did what I thought was right' is rarely accepted by the majority. Some, yes, most, no. So they're in a bloody difficult position.

It's human nature I'm afraid, and we'd all love to believe we're above it, but most of us are not

This.

The simple justification for this course of action can also be cooked down into "If we don't do it someone else will, so we might as well benefit from it".

You say that, but the advantage of the 'mom and pop shops' is that they don't have to worry about social distancing. My wife and I opened a shop last March selling sewing supplies. Since the lockdown started in Ireland we have been selling more online in a day as we were in a week before hand online and in the shop.

It's an ill wind that blows no-one any good!

The daily ITK discussion thread.

First it stopped being daily.

Then it stopped having ITK.

And now the discussion thread has become a discussion about thread.

I quite like it. It's soothing.

And there's much less needle than there used to be.

Good point, well presented. Sorry for continuing the off topic discussion. To be fair though, Hercules' ITK didn't really give us much to discuss!

imo it would've been nice to have a gibberish-transfer-rumour thread just to discuss what's going on. See a couple of daily linked players to us nowadays and rather than pasting them in to the Daily ITK thread, we could just be spamming that thread.. just a suggestion though

Like a players thread?! If discussion is split this thread would die as would be moderated and the 'spam' wouldn't and would be a mine field to keep up with the information for anyone not in it 24/7.

Until the transfer window is open, I think it could be nice to just have a thread where one can post links to players and discuss. Not a thread per player. The Daily ITK is for discussing daily itk...

Yeah, I've posted a couple, but mentioned also that the player is on my wish list so that's probably hanging by a thread :D

FWIW!
Campos was sub-contracted to Lille. As I stated few months ago, always was going to end up here. Daniel Levy all for it. Let’s hope it is ratified sooner rather than later. Until it is announced we cannot say ‘done deal’ but looking that way

To add to the Campos news. I am not putting my nads on the line! As likely as it looks; as Jose wanted him months ago, and was told at the time we were trying to work it somehow. Let’s hope this transpires. My own opinion is it will eventually happen. But! My opinion!

Not sure who Campos is. Have not bothered much about football since lockdown. Is this a player or director of football or whatever?
