A few points

1- We are no longer for sale and have not been since the palace home game last March so that is not a current option

2- Joe controls what happens with the club not DL , DL loves running the club he would never sell but its not his call

3- Levy is now under intense pressure from all quarters, Even before the Norwich game Joe thought both the results and performances Jose was delivering in relation to the obscene contract he was given were hugely disapointing, levy defense that Jose is a winner do not look to clever now after the last week , I do not know to many directors who would survive the debacle of having to pay 60 million managerial compensation to two high profile managers whilst overseeing a playing squad with little balance or quality , levy is far from untouchable, Spurs are big business now a 2 billion asset with 500 million turnover, levy future very much rest in the hands of Jose being able to turn around

4- Levy not for the first time was badly hoodwinked by Jose with what a wonderful squad you have etc , Jose predictably now changed his tune, pre Norwich Jose wanted 8 new players in the summer and the guy from Lyon as new DOF , I presume after Norwich and last night Jose will want even more player

and

if I gave you a list of players that wanted to join and levy messed up the deals you would sob, he did amazing with the stadium to get the nfl , banks and authorities on board but one swallow does not make a summer he has been a dreadful chairman, Poch the messiah covered his shortcomings for 5 years but that ship has sailed.

and

Lewis now watches every games and finds Jose's tactics and football eye bleeding

and (looks more opinion but still interesting.

I never wanted him but after poch threw in the towel after yet another summer of levy shambles ( this years deal f55k ups were coutino and Dybala ) and with scum closing in on Jose levy felt they had to act and Jose duly pulled levy pants down

They need to decide whether to stick or twist after the wham game , unless they are going too back him and bring the Lyon guy in there is no point , Jose did not want a striker in jan as he had a player in mind for the summer , Jose did this at united where they got him everything he wanted and he was still useless

There is no point crying over spilt milk we need to boot Jose and pay him off , we are miles from a cl team right now, we need to bring sess, parrot, cirkin and tanganga through and try and attract some bright talent in the summer and rebuild with a modern young coach, Jose is way way past it

The first thing I have read in a while that makes sense. I have seen to much garbage about how everything is OK just give Jose time and shedloads of money when anyone not born yesterday knows differently

Well. There is a lot more that goes on at a club than just that. A DoF would have the responsibility of the academy etc.

That would be a head of youth development, who works with the DoF. Imo.

We don’t win one of our only two trophies in the PL era without his heroics on the line despite having a broken foot after Heskey did Judas.
While I don't disagree with that particular match, he was overall below what you'd expect from a PL level defender.
It was another time though, where a lot of punts was taken on "exotic" players from the continent, as the first big TV-deals propelled the PL clubs into the absolute economic elite in Europe.

1. Consistent build was fine until it was time to strike and make the moves necessary to boost the squad to the next level. Will Spurs ever have a better back 5 than Rose, Vert, Toby, Walker & Lloris? I doubt it. A better front four than DESK? We'll see. They just needed that extra 2-3 players to help them compete across 4 competitions.
2. There were reports thats all it was.
4. Of course, I can't read the future but if we're all being honest thats way more likely than this appointment working out.
?
Haha, DESK

  1. Surely every time we’ve moved to improve the squad in the last two decades it has been to take us to the next level, no?
  2. I don’t mean was it just that little, more was that really the only issue, or was it the only reported issue?
  3. That’s just unwarranted negativity.
I think point one, the last bale season / first AVB season was weaker than the last Redknapp season.

Potentially though the majority of that side finished 3rd for Pochettino in 2016. Ok, Alderweireld a clear upgrade on Dawson and Kane on Adebayor, but the previous season Ade was our top scorer while Dawson was our main centre back. I’d say the main difference was Eriksen for Gylfi.

I mean I don't necessarily mind if you got an individual with both those qualities, but nothing to suggest that for example Mitchell would be a good negotiator. And as I mentioned it is not like Spurs is all that special in this case. A lot of big teams are structured in the same way where there is some "non football" person that is on the top. The same way a CEO will "balance" a normal company's sales department, operational department etc. without being the best sales person, having the best operational understanding etc.

To me this is just a simplified way of blaming someone - Levy in this case.

That doesn't mean I think Levy can't be criticized or that we in theory couldn't have DoF or anyone else being responsible for negotiating, but to me it isn't obvious that would change much. If anything I am quite pleased with the stability having a chairman for so long - even if you can argue the opposite as well now that some new eyes would be beneficial.

The person at the shouldn't be the one doing the deals. It should be the director. Otherwise there is no point in having a DoF. Then you can have a chief scout, a head of youth development and whatever else. Just like Levy deals with the commercial side of the club, the DoF should run the footballing side. Setting a long term plan, hiring managers and players based on that. Liverpool even has a guy in charge of just setting up and keeping tab on their loaned out players.

If you have a DoF then Levy should give him Xm pounds to balance in transfers/wage budget and let him get on with it.

OK.

Personally to me I believe the club is ran like that. But instead of a DoF you got a manager, head scout, head of developing etc. that share this responsibility with Levy.

I loved the idea of us having a DoF back in the day, but I am not sure it ever worked out the way we thought it would. Obviously many fans blame Levy for that (and they might be right), but I am not so sure. How many DoFs around end up being qualified enough, loyal enough etc to provide that long term thinking and stability you think that role would give? If the DoF gets sacked and moves around as much as a manager/head coach then it becomes rather pointless in my opinion. Actually not only pointless it would mess things up as you would have changes to the inner dynamics of the club continuously.

Pure speculation from my side, but I also believe Pochettino and now Mourinho wouldn't accept being 100% subordinate to a DoF the way a coach would be to the General Manager in for example the NHL.

we are about to embark on one of the largest residential housing developments London has seen in decades only 8 miles from the West End in my opinion they will dress it up that they need levy to run this and give him a fancy title to help him save face but I have every confidence he will not be involved in footballing decisions within 12-18 months

I am very reliably informed Jose didn’t realise the state of the squad etc when he took the job on. He also was fully convinced we would of bought in a striker on loan in January. Forget his public support of positivity. He feels DL has thrown him under a bus with a wild bunch of cards. There are 4 players who has been playing 40% not fit. Told he feels fans and pundits being unfair. Because when he came he was very adventurous. He is damned if he does, and damned if he doesn’t.

THIS ONE IS ON DANIEL LEVY!!!
NOT NECESSARILY ENIC!!!

I call it as it is. Details are known behind the scenes here.

Not being funny but at the beginning he wasn't slammed at all. We all thought keep playing the same and work on what he does best.... Defending.

He went into seige mentality the moment Man Utd and Chelsea came along

The reason it doesn't work is because it's not done properly. Levy should stick to the commercial side and let the DoF do his thing, but it doesn't happen.

The managers should get used to being head coaches. All the best run clubs in Europe have a DoF setup and I think it will continue that way. That's the reason Dortmund, RB and Monaco (under Campos) have had great success finding players with little outlay.

I think Levy is probably still stung by what happened with the Bale money. He probably thinks he could have done better with it (but that's a trait of being a confident and successful businessman). Most of his dalliances with DoFs have been very hit and miss and he probably thinks he's done a great job himself even though the evidence often contradicts that. At the end of the day though, he'll always be the one writing the cheque and that can always be a sticking point in any deal.

No. He's got a massive issue with Levy and it's all rubbish. He recently had a big melt-down on FTL and "quit" because of the mocking he was getting. It looks liken he's gone back to COYS.
