You can list probably twenty things Mourinho has done that are genuinely sadistic compared to your weird suppositions you make about Poch’s relationship with KWP there...

I suppose what we can see is that mentality is so important to Mourinho and maybe Tanganga is not as fancy a footballer as Foyth but he’s come in and been rock solid and so ultimately been more productive in his short time. I also like Foyth but if Mourinho can keep promoting select young players who have ‘it’, just like Kane does despite not initially being the most hyped youth player, then we’ll do well.

What part of it is weird? You think Pochettino handled KWP in a good way? And this being the ITK thread it seems like ITK information is backing up my view that Pochettino was losing it in terms of our youth development.

I'll judge Mourinho on his actions for Spurs primarily. So far he is miles better than the manager Pochettino became. And if you have asked me after the 16/17-season I would have said Pochettino was a genius. So it is not like I didn't like the guy.

When the facts change I change my view - what do you do sir?

Soumare and Osimhen it is then.
A few ifs and buts, however, if all our recent purchases settled in, Tanganga continued to develop, and we got these two, plus, say, Aarons, then that is a hell of a squad to be starting next season with. Fingers crossed.

Generally I think it was a pretty good window

I didnt really expect to get a striker in given the derth of talent available let alond someone to come for 6 months Giroud was probably the only option and that was never going to happen

My only irritation is this posturing we are or should I say DL does about going after a secret "big" player in last 24 hours of the window eg Bale I think we are beyond that now

Metalhead

But that's a debate for another thread.....

I get the feeling that people over estimate just how much scouting a sporting director does. Campos would be a facilitator, he would work with the scouts to identify targets for different positions. He isn’t going to be scouting hem himself
It would be good to have someone work within that type of role and ensure that the scouts are maximising opportunities when it comes to identifying talent.

Aarons, Soumare, Osimhen and Eze. Steady window that. Would you say we need a LB too, or place faith in the reliability of Davies and the potential of Sessegnon and Cirkin. If we’re going for Soumare, I’d suggest it’s a fluid all CM, mo designated DM.

Would leave us in a much stronger position than we are now.

My more pressing concern, with our insistence on balancing the books, is where does the money for these transfers come from?

We can't realistically expect to make much money from selling Aurier, Sissoko, Wanyama and Vertonghen. We could probably add KWP and Rose into that mix as players likely to leave on permanent deals in summer, along with maybe one of Lamela or Lucas, but in reality I can't see those ~7 players bringing in anywhere near enough to cover those 4 acquisitions.

Fair play for giving up on us investing any money outside of what we make selling players early out the gate  .

This is what I've been wondering. If we are going to spend significant amounts we will no doubt need to raise a decent amount in sales and it's not obvious where that would come from.

I could see us being prepared to sell Dier but can't imagine anyone is going to pay a massive fee for him these days. The only others who I would even countenance selling who would command high transfer fees are Lucas and Dele but Mourinho seems to like them both.

Whilst we still need to be mindful, do we actually need to balance the books with sales, what with TV money etc. I get we have a stadium to pay for, but most teams in the league invest in their squads without net spend restriction. Surely there is room to move without being overly lavish.

Aurier, KWP, Rose, Sissoko, Wanyama are the expendable options based on current position and expected position with potential incomings, maybe room to trim Moura out if we have faith in Clarke, Eze and Parrott to provide different attacking alternatives.

Bar Aaron's this ties in with Herc's info about the briefing for scouts: strong, tall technical players. Not that Aaron's isn't a brilliant player.
