Wonder if the young kid Herc mentioned we were trying for was the 16 year old Hannibal Mejbri from Monaco. Looks like he is off to Utd now and been mentioned he chose them over us and a few other clubs.

If Eriksen goes, we know we have the money there to buy a top quality replacement. Who that is we don't know but I suspect that if Dybala doesn't move before the end of this window and he isn't getting much game time at Juve then we will go back in for him in January.

BF was always the fallback option nothing more nothing less! Medical was booked but as soon as Lo Celso fee was agreed BF became irrelevant.

So I'm assuming this is because Eriksen is staying.

Considering the previous itk from yourself and others.

Great news if true.

Don't think this is true at all. If we don't get what we want for him then he will stay imo. But what level that actually is will be interesting. Would the club actually take £30m for him now rather than lose him for nothing in a season's time? Just over two weeks in which to find out. My personal thoughts are that he will go and GLC will slot into the team in the same position and we play a fraction differently. Onions though.

if Real Madrid wanted CE surely levy would say right bid for him now or you wont get him
because we need to find a replacement Now the window is shut we cant do anything

Selling him now would be a stupid thing to do

I'd also guess that Levy would be looking for more for him now than before our transfer window shut because he's literally irreplaceable until January.

Assuming we could bring in a replacement, I could see us selling Eriksen in the January window to a team trying to push for CL football over the second half of the season. We wouldnt get much for him, sure, but its better than letting him go on a free.

Why would Eriksen agree to that? Unless it's one of the elite clubs that he wants to join he's not going to leave.

I mean, yeah, he'd never agree to go to ANY team, but say Real is off the pace (they HAVE looked bad), or another elite team is a bit off pace, I could see a desperation move. And if its an elite team, who's to say?

Not saying its likely, but I could see it happening.

My concern for Eriksen has always been Juve getting in his ear about waiting out for a free next year. If Ramsey has warranted the salary they have given him, then what is Eriksen worth to them.

I dont get why you guys seem to think CE will leave even if we accept an offer?

If you were CE and instead of the club getting 30m he could take 15m of that plus the ridiculous wages ... why would he go? Unless he signs and happy to stay for a year or two then i dont think he will go anywhere UNLESS it is RM who offer him ridiculous wages - they seem to be after Neymer so doubt they want CE for now.

Bird in hand, versus two in the bush. If Eriksen plays out the season for us with the hopes of ending up in Madrid on a free a lot of different things could prevent that. He could get injured, have a bad season, Real Madrid (notoriously short attention span) could get distracted and go for someone else, etc.

Plus, if he can get a move now, I doubt he wants to wait a year for it based on recent statements.

Surely if players running down contracts becomes more of a “thing” this will eventually deflate transfer fees at the expense of wages for the players unless the player is signing up to a longer deal when he first moves

I agree with the post particularly the bolded part but he may have decided well if i aint going to get Madrid now then ill wait it out for the year - worst case he will go to Juve/Atletico (I think he wants Madrid)

Youre right but think it depends on how long they have remaining on their contract. If its a year then yeah unless they dont want to leave they will run down their contract - see Ramsey. Ramsey is a good player but 400k a week good?

the 400k for Ramsey I believe included a signing on fee, but paying him a higher wage instead of a lump sum (my onions of course)

with Eriksen if he has his heart set on Madrid, we should see a near on perfect Eriksen for the season. The reason they went cold on him was due to his performances. he still produced but never looked dominant, and like all the WC players tired due to all the fixtures they had to play. after he returned from injury I don't think he had much of a break for the remainder.

I thought it was that people included the sign-on with the wages over the course of the contract. I think he's on something like 200k in "normal" wage.
