If Real and Levy want to have a pissing contest then that's fine with me as long as the ITK from the start of the window (that the incoming transfers were not dependant on Luka's fee) is correct. If he comes back and is given the right treatment (" know what you're worth, they were taking the piss, now get out and play") or - if he is not prepared to play, chucked in the reserves.

The endgame is that we need the other signings in and there is clearly a deal to be done with Real - if Levy does not take it now, there are another 4 years to run on his contract. If we end up with Modric back and playing, as a worst case scenario, then we have just signed a £35m midfielder with Prem experience.

Glass. Half. Full.

Not sure I buy this, why would Levy mess with the one transfer that our entire window depends on? The domino effect would have a potentially ruinous effect on not just deals in the pipeline, but squad morale too! He may be a tough negotiator, but he always seems to look after the best interests of the club, so this smacks of Croatian/Spanish bullshit to me, trying to make us look bad because their darling Rat Boy didn't get everything his own way, kind of like Stimac was trying to do last week! Assholes

Where has this notion come from?

If Modric were happy to stay, where would the money for strikers come from?

One article and all this? Seriously wait to see what develops before we all start laying into Levy....
If it was just the one article and solely about Modric then fine. But the striker situation, keeper situtation. New manager, new players, possibly some even newer players...

We always seem to go into seasons so poorly prepared.

Doesn't anyone else find it odd that Mourinho would be the one to pull the plug or be furious because of Levy's negotiating ? Surely, if true, it would be the RM director negotiating who would be getting annoyed. Mourinho wouldn't give a shit as long as he got his player would he ?

No, he had that whole power play with his contract because he wants control over transfers like the British model of doing things.

Has anyone stopped to consider that perhaps Real's deal was taking the piss, and levy's protecting our interests and trying to ensure that Villas Boas has some meaningful cash to spend on players. I mean, if the price Madrid had offered was £25 million and Levy has said actually stick up your bollocks, if you really want Luka come back with something above £30 million is there so much wrong with that?

actually yes . if hes agreed a price then gone back on the deal.
exactly the kind of shit internacional are reported to keep pulling

so this article is the straw that broke the camels back as far as your concerned? It could be complete hogshit though!

AVB will be backed, its just the way we operate - I still think we'll be relatively pleased come the end of the window.

You are v.probably right although we need to act differently when conducting business.

I wouldn't worry mate. Your girlfriend never put out, your job was shit, and we all know that money can't buy you happiness. You're probably better off unemployed, skint and celibate. (y)

(Agree with you about Juande though.)
Yes. By Christ you're right. I see my life in an entirely new light! Thank you! I think you've saved me.

Even if the article is hogshit, 17 hours from our first game - a 6 pointer going off last season - things are a mess.

I dearly hope we get Ade, Leandro, Moutinho and Lloris. I would be genuinely ecstatic. But if we don't then the transfer window would have been a lot of wasted and we'll never get back.

Just wait and see, I think we'll be fine.

I don't see how we could conduct our business differently without negatively impacting our bargaining power.

Modric was always going to be pivotal in some respects but then when we are dealing with some notorious hard nosed chairman/board members in Real Madrid, Porto, Inter and Lyon, coupled with our own prudent appraoch, I dare say we were never likely to wrap up our business early.

I've defended Levy to the hilt - and have the neg rep to prove it - but i'm starting to lose faith in him.

It's one thing that we continually seem to be chasing people we can't afford but now the constant disruption over Modric? I can't see how this can be good for business, squad building or team morale.

Last season Chelsea offered us £35m, cash. Who knows, maybe we could have ended up with Oscar at a sensible price.

I won't ever question Levy's abilities but i'm starting to wonder about his strategy. If I was him i'd be losing sleep, feeling ill at the way things seem to be going.

When we get confirmation that this is true (and we have absolutely nothing to suggest it is at the moment), then I'll start to worry.

If we really have dumped the Modric deal and not brought anyone else at all in even I will admit to be extremely disappointed in Levy.

i Dearly hope so to but i think Ade is prob the only 1 from this shortlist that we have a possible chance of especially if the Modric deal has indeed been pulled?. Although id love the ITK's who did indeed say the Money was available and did not depend on selling to come and explain the lack of activity if we did have the cash ready to put up!! when its clear to everybody a striker was needed and still v.much is.
