With the media picking up both Lo Celso and N'Dombele links heavily along with the ITK we've heard, if these two don't go off successfully, it will be a major disappointment, even more so than last year. Seems like there are once again no other targets. These are the two Poch wants and they seem to want to come here. I hate to think what happens if these don't get done.

Yep. We definitely didn't get this level of info about De Jong and that was supposed to be one we went in hard for. I imagine that things are progressing well enough for this info to all come out. Last year we didn't get any reports of developments this far advanced did we?

You'd have to say the market is setting up pretty well for us, combined with our Champions League success. Knock on wood, but most of the bigger/equivalent clubs aren't really set up to compete with us all summer.

  1. City and Liverpool have basically said they aren't going to buy big. Looks like City might bring in Rodri and that's it.
  2. Chelsea is transfer banned.
  3. Arsenal don't have CL and look like they aren't willing to spend significant sums.
  4. United are in for everyone but no CL and it's not exactly a secret they are a total mess. Seems like they are struggling in the market tbh.
  5. Madrid are likely to only bring in one more player considering all the business they've done already.
  6. Barcelona, after De Jong, seem pretty focused on De Ligt and Greizmann. Can't see them doing a huge amount besides that unless they are able to get rid of someone like Coutinho for big money.
  7. Bayern Munich generally does their own thing within Germany.
  8. PSG is a potential threat.
  9. Atletico and Juventus are both about our level in terms or lower in terms of money. Think players prefer the English league to Italy and we have a high stock considering what happened this season. Atletico has dwindled a bit probably.
  10. I don't really worry about the Milan clubs, even though they are always linked to everyone.
  11. Dortmund has done a ton of business already.
We should be able to get business done this summer, our biggest threat is ourselves.

Nice post, but you forgot to put West Ham on the list :cautious:

Jeez - didnt realise we were so bored waiting for a new signing that we're already into sematics around player roles!!?
Anyway, please enlighten me on Dembele's role at Spurs (while we all wait!)
Sorry? You were the one who brought up plans for a "DM" so don't get all short about it. This isn't the place but please feel free to tag me in a old Dembele thread where we can discuss.

Some agents/players/family members etc etc speak more than others. That's why some we hear lots about others nothing at all.

Makes sense. Just hope they're not speaking more to encourage other bids as they have a preferred destination

Ok so it appears we’re all set for a cocktail of extreme excitement mixed with manic despair in this thread over the next few days.

Like a thousand small cuts to the penis, it’ll be pain and suffering for some, arousement for others.

I’m firmly on the side of the perverts (y)

I'd never thought about it like that before but makes a lot of sense.

We signed Son almost completely out of the blue and I imagine most of his inner circle are Korean and less likely to leak stuff to the press, or spread it by hear say.

Then at the other end of the scale we had David Bentley's brother, cousin and dog informing us of his bowel movements 6 months before he signed.

Yes there is a middle path. But that would lead to mediocrity at best.

Fortune favours the brave. Now is definately not the time to be cautious.

At the end of the day, now, like any other time, is the time to buy well.

Because we're getting better, the available pool of players that will actually improve us, and also have a sell on value (which we need in our position) is rapidly shrinking

Really, outside of Ndombele and (arguably to a lesser extent) Lo Celso, what players are there with those attributes, with that quality, at that age, with appetite to join us? Not a lot I'd wager.

Which all amounts to the same thing - we need to put our nuts on the line and get them in!

Interesting ITK today, thanks as always.

50-50 is still a bit of a worry, as we are clearly going hard at signing N’D and LoC.
I guess a deal can fall apart at any time for a whole bunch of reasons but we have to be more than 50% confident, especially with the players seemingly suggesting a move to Spurs is agreeable.

ghostofarmo, nothing new here though:
Bit of itk
We are definitely after both ndombele and celso..I don’t know yet if it’s both or one or the other but I’m told 50/50 chance of signing..
So it’s not just paper talk.Just passing on I wish I knew more.
Ndombele more advanced talks and 50-50..

edit: the last line came a bit later, maybe he got an update/clarification
Dovahkiin is back!!! Eek! ??
