It has a minimum amount of games. At least 2 games of nfl every year. Whatever chelsea do will not change that.

No, but the NFL is only obligated to host 2 games at the new stadium. They have 5 games in London in 2015, so hypothetically they could play 3 games at Chelsea's stadium and not be going against our agreement.

Oh I know that Lilbaz, I was referring to the points I made in my post at the start of this convo ie potential to be the home of a future London franchise and a unique position as the only stadium hosting both PL and NFL.

But why play at a ground not suited to the NFL when you have one specifically built with the NFL in mind (and with an artificial turf field)

You're definitely going for the glass half empty approach here aren't you ;)

We don't know the exact details of the deal with the NFL (other than the minimum 2 games and the 10-year partnership), but it will certainly be worth more to us financially than just the 'rental' payments. Owning a stadium which plays host to not just one but two of the wealthiest and most-watched sports competitions in the world puts us in a unique and incredibly strong position commercially.

Also, if the NFL do decide to go ahead with a London-based franchise at some point in the future we're pretty much a shoo-in to be their home, given that we already have a good relationship and that we will have the only large stadium in the country which has been specifically designed to cater for the needs of the sport.

What was always a given with the new stadium was that it would bring our match day revenues in line with the elite clubs. What the NFL tie-in does is offer the potential for us to close the gap on commercial revenues as well. I can't speak for anyone else, but that's what I find most exciting about the partnership.

We have a very good name for our own NFL franchise, The Tottenham Hotspurs! sounds very American football :)

I know, but we aren't an NFL franchise either. I'm sure an s would be added for our American friends for the NFL team though.

Certainly a possibility that Chelsea could try to muscle in, but their stadium plans are already compromised somewhat by the space restrictions of their site (have you seen the bizarre shape of their proposed new ground?)

Even if they had the will to try to make their stadium genuinely multi-purpose and suitable for NFL, I'm not sure they could find a way to overcome the impracticalities without making significant further compromises - and that would not be popular with their fans.

The Americans do not like Russians. IMHO.

I think Daniel Levy has been contracted by the NFL to refer to football as 'soccer' for the next 10 years :shifty:

Grrr....I hate that word
