Well if the papers are correct, we were at 10 mill and I thought tbat was absurd for him. If another team upped it to 12, then get out of the bidding. 12 is outrageous for Davies.

I think that some of us are evaluating our playing staff on the basis of last season's displays. I think that that is a wrong presumption to make. We have to trust in Poch now and leave our past performances out of the equation. We need to see how players perform under the new regime. After all, I still think that our squad is better than last season's showing and firmly believe that Poch will achieve a better season with what we already have.
I could be wrong you know but we need to have the patience.

I think we all know that we can play better as a team but equally that better players in certain positions would make it better for the better players we currently have to achieve that and far better to help Poch achieve that and allow him the chance to work on that team development without being slowed down by the weaker members

Agree with you here. As Vertonghan would be first out the door based on last season. It was a complete mess with no order or plan to it. Rose could, just about be a handy left back if Poch worked wonders. But he would still need someone in to compete with and that wont be Benny.

this is a tiny bit transfer related so should probably go in here. Edmonton on COYS talking about rumours of leaving tottenham for a season and playing elsewhere:

"Lets just say that all these rumours might be helpful with certain audiences. Leaks galore on ground sharing and complete lockdown on transfer news."

So Verts would have been first out of the door but Danny Boy spared? I truly don't believe that for a single minute.

Chairmen must love it when Liverpool come in for their players.

"We want your midfielder"

- "Ok, sure, you can have him for 12 million"

"HA! We were going to offer you 25 million!!"

-"Umm, ok, 25 million then"

Thing is, in the market....it actually may not be outrageous.

Not a huge number of LBs out there who would fall into the same categories as Davies (Young, homegrown, PL experienced with upside) and fewer still that would be inexpensive.

Young talented LBs (even RBs) as a whole is an expensive category of player to pursue, Rodriguez and Moreno look like they will be at least £20m (and Rodriguez doesn't even appear to be on our list anyways), Bernat is headed to Bayern, Alex Sandro plays for Porto (who make dealing with Levy seem simple), Jetro Willems seems like he will be a Dutch Danny Rose....then you have the guys like Martins-Indi and Rojo who are capable of playing LB but are actually CBs....do we want to put a CB at LB? I would prefer we avoid that personally.

I think the pricing for Davies seems too high, but in the market (the same market that seems likely to see Toni Kroos be sold for less than Lallana or Cesc) it actually may be the going rate...as amazing as that may seem.

Lest you forget lads and gals, season after season players valuation is going up and up. I mean, after one Gareth Bale was sold for a crazy sum of £££££££..........., it is only natural that we need to keep that in mind. I'm not sure DL does though!

It's only Spurs fans who think spending money to improve the team is funny. I'd much rather be in their position.

You mean you want another season of a big team coming in and taking one of our stars? LFC fans are about to find out just how hard it is to replace a star and fortunately for us the meltdown will be absolutely bloody hilarious.

Depends if you put work and effort and attitude above ability, because Verts was an absolute disgrace last year. Rose gave it all but came up short on quality

If we don't sign anyone I won't mind. I would definitely prefer us to bring in a CB and a LB, but if we have to make it through the season using a lot of our youth and come out top 6 I would be extremely impressed. I know we all want to be top four, but you can't be top four right now without spending 100 M every summer on new superstars. We don't have the same amount of money. We need to win on teamwork and a strong youth foundation.

If we get them playing well together (this year) then we can be proud of our homegrown squad that plays beautiful attacking football (next year), and that would make me more proud than getting in the Champion's League this year. I want us to build for the future - to build on a solid youth foundation with a world-class academy the future stars are dying to get into. I want us to use this manager, who is said to be superb at fostering youth, to his best abilities in that department and get a group of 19-24 year olds playing the beautiful game the way it's meant to be played.

I watched some Feyenoord in the Eredivisie last year (mother's family is from Rotterdam) and was incredibly impressed with the way they played. It's obvious they aren't refined and many mistakes were made on the pitch but the sheer amount of effort and passion was amazing to behold. I wish we could see that again.

I think if you looked at how much Rose gave when caught up field every match by nonchalantly jogging back then I think the above is baloney. Verts was dire last season but has shown his class previously.

Last summer we were in their position. Replacing one huge star with several players. It may work straight away, or it may not. I'd rather be us in the position we are now with those same players having a year under their belt.

Not as outrageous as offering Sig for Vorm and Davies. (If true)

It takes a very, very strong-willed manager to bring in more than 4-5 new players and get them to gel with the team in their first season. The jury is out on Rodgers but I think he can do it. Bring in more than 4-5, though, and you're really tempting fate. At that point you run the risk of unsettling current players, exposing yourself to financial problems, and may even have some of your new players cause issues in the dressing room. That's all assuming they don't have any issues integrating with the squad, too - if any of the new players have problems integrating with the current Liverpool squad (which seems like a tight-knit group to begin with) they'll most likely be benched and could cause a stir.

Again, as I said before, I think Rodgers can handle it. But not if they get a serious windfall off Suarez and buy another 5 players as has been rumoured (this does not include Lovren, as many are assuming he's a Liverpool player already).

And was Belgium's best player by a country mile in the world cup.

People going mental about the Sig for Davies and Vorm offer. Mainly on other platforms (although some people seem angered on here)

Do you guys realise the article was written by the same guy who said we bid £3million for John O'Shea?

LOL! So true.... Would love levy to have offered that but wont be true. We dont do swap deals Levy wants cash for players and normaly a profit off every player.
