Guess we will have to agree to disagree on the subject of Rose. If he's our starting left back this season then i for one will be most disappointed.

I'm with you in that Rose is useless and has shown no sign of any intelligence... However maybe, just maybe, Poch can actually train and teach him something? Stranger things have happened...

Not to mention that he was absolutely dreadful last season, and that we've had just one decent season out of him at CB since we first signed him. It seems nuts to offload Dawson now, given the prices that are being bandied about for players like Lovren.
But hell, he was really good that season!

Term he got that awful injury & as yet hasn't ever made it back to full fitness.

I think it's only fair to wait judgment till he has got back to fill fitness & played a while at top level.

Maybe he won't ever, but he was that good 2 seasons ago that it's worth another season to see IMO

Trust me, I wouldn't say no to a better left back. I just don't think anyone should be written off until Poch has had a proper look.

Vorm makes sense given that Friedal is really not a viable back-up keeper option, ok he's got another season with us, but at his age it's a massive liability if Lloris were to get injured.

We're playing in EL again next season so i would imagine that even as back-up Vorm will get 10+ starts for us, and if Lloris were to pick up an injury at any point then he'd be straight into the first team.

Plus if Lloris has a storming season under Poch then he could well be off next summer and as such Vorm would step into the first team spot.

Given Swansea now have Fabianski i think it makes a lot of sense all round.

Is Gards allowed in here?

If he is, then he has just said that the "Davies deal should've been done, but another club has offered 2m more..."

No idea who the club could be.

Also, if he's isn't allowed on here, then please delete ASAP.

Kaboul at his best would be better than any cb we'd be able to sign this summer

LFC has been rumoured with him several times and apparently the Moreno deal fell apart because Sevilla want more money (really have seen it said what they actually want is a bidding war).

Saints are in for him, probably them.

The problem is that Kaboul is a serious injury concern most of the time, and we haven't seen enough from Chiriches to be sure he's a long term first team prospect. Plus I still wouldn't be surprised if Vertonghen comes back wanting a move, so I just don't think we're in a position to be getting rid of people just yet.

As for the fee, I'd have said the 4m fee would be okay but looking at the other fees being bandied about at the moment it does seem very low.

Generally seems like there's a lot of teams with a lot more money than us interested in similar players (Livepool, Arsenal, United...and that's without considering the teams from abroad), and I just can't see us competing this summer.

I thought Lovren would be a good deal at about 8-10m. But 20m? Come on now football...sort yourself out.

vlad has it mate, will be top class! would be happy with him as our third CB option this season, he'll get a lot of playing time

How are Southampton more ambitious?

Than Swansea? I don't think Swansea ever had it in their heads to try and push for a CL spot, and seem to just be genuinely content to remain in the Prem. Sure Saints aren't on the level of the top seven, but they're certainly a more ambitious club with more resources than Swansea.

Next your'l be telling us that it was Poch who parted the Red Sea..............

I admire your optimism but just cannot see any sort of a left back in Rose.

I think that some of us are evaluating our playing staff on the basis of last season's displays. I think that that is a wrong presumption to make. We have to trust in Poch now and leave our past performances out of the equation. We need to see how players perform under the new regime. After all, I still think that our squad is better than last season's showing and firmly believe that Poch will achieve a better season with what we already have.
I could be wrong you know but we need to have the patience.
