Fuck me, did we really think we'd be this excited about the prospect of signing Grealish two months ago?

No offence to the lad, he's a good player, but blimey.

I'm excited about him. Could become an exceptional player for us.

Personally I'm not busting a nut in excitement but equally I am pleased at the prospect of signing him whilst still hoping for someone like Martial to happen.

All I would say is that I doubt many of us were excited when we signed Dele and Dier and look how they turned out.

I wanted him since the play off final to be honest. I watched it for Sessegnon, but was very impressed with Grealish. Perfect signing for us in my opinion.

Standard spurs window, wait until the fans are desperate so the fans somehow think selling the likes of Walker and Alder is okay and signings like Grealish are top draw. I'm intrigued by what Poch can do about Grealish but I really do think sometimes the wool is pulled over our eyes to make our windows seem better than they are (Sissoko, LLorente etc on deadline day)

Very interersting snippet. If Zaha is not in the running as a result of us not being interested, then we must be confident of getting an A list target in.

This window will go down in legend as either the best or worst in Levy’s tenure I feel.

It is weird, you'd think with a seemingly non-HG CM being targeted, having a HG wing option would make sense. We must be confident of managing the squad currently.

I'm guessing we still have hopes on Martial and have a couple of long shot backup options on the continent (where they have time to replace after Thursday).

Or he has decided to go elsewhere. Or he was always too expensive. Or, or, or...and on.

Not because we’re necessarily confident?

Edit - We probably all have our own theories and hopes.

I am. Especially with a our manager and coaching staff. The lack of pace up front is my concern at the minute.

Well Trix said that it wasn't what he meant that he was going to be difficult to prise away from Palace. It may be the case that we were never interested, but any other interpretation suggests to me that we have our eyes on a bigger prize. Maybe I'm just feeling optimistic today...

Or we are not going to cough up 75m (or whatever ridiculous fee has been quoted) for him and someone else is...

It's good to hear we can get Grealish if we cough up. It would certainly be a better late deal than Llorente or Sissoko were. We just can't afford to wait too long and risk missing out completely. It's good to hear he has other options though so at least if we get our other target instead he will still get his Premier League move.

It is a fair assertion. We aren’t in the running NOT because we found it difficult to prise him away, suggesting our sights are set elsewhere

That’s still ‘difficult to prise away’ isn’t it? A massive price tag? Regardless, my interpretation of Trix’s message was a positive one. We will see.

This could effectively fall under we found it difficult to prise him away from Palace ( because unlike someone else, we weren’t willing to pay the necessary price )

Trix didn't say he was difficult to prise away, he said we weren't in the running. To me that = 'fee too big for baldy'. Anyhow, make of it what you will. I don't see us having a chance at Zaha. Next.

Yes, however he responded to someone that said that, highlighted the very line and said that that wasn’t the reason. That is the root of what we are saying.

Anyways, last post on the matter.
