I'll take this bet solely because I am fairly confident no one will have to pay up when we sign no one. In fact, im so confident we'll sign no one, i'll match your tenner on 1 and double on 2 or more.

Yes, I'm Mr Glass half EMPTY as usual:cautious:

corrected for you, would hate for you to start being noticed as slightly positive:whistle:

If we sign more than one player I’ll put £1 in for every £1m we spend on the most expensive one.

*spread over the next 12 months as a mark of respect to DL :cautious:

Yeah fuck it, this site is worth the extra dosh, and if we sign 2 or more I’ll gladly add a £10 to the sites coffers. Count me in on that. One bet I hope I lose.

not sure it was an open bet to all, otherwise I'd of thought @Breezer would of put more on the initial bet

I think the confidence around two new signings comes from:

(a) the Alderweireld deal now good as done and the strong expectation that we'll spend most of that on a replacement, plus;

(b) Grealish being as good as done.

Could see Grealish and Alderweireld transfers confirmed tomorrow - leaving us 24hrs to find Toby's replacement and maybe get another deal done elsewhere.

Then I'd expect a few loan departures to thin out the non-HG squad before the end of August.

Might just about be OK - or we could be waiting for the January window to open from mid-September onwards (heaven forbid)!!

Yet we remain (mildly) optimistic. More fools us.[/QUOTE]

Where we hearing that Alderweireld is almost done? I personally think Levy’s played hardball and will only deal if Martial included. But I’ve no idea who the other of the minimum 2 signings @Breezer was alluding to.

I’m feeling pretty chilled. Keeping all our best players (bar possibly Alderweireld who by the sounds of it fucked himself), big fat shiny new stadium, more players than any other club in the latter stages of the World Cup than any other team and looking at at least two in according to Breezer. Not going to stress quite yet!

Transfer pledges is normally beginning of the window talk. That's how bad things have got.

Am I naive to still think we should insist on Martial as part of any Alderweireld deal?
Maybe we have no chance of getting him away and we’re just trying to max the £££ but it feels like an opportunity missed. Martial clearly wasted there.
