Mendes has no affiliation to spurs we messed about with it took to long thought we had time and in the end Chelsea coughed up.

ohhh, ohhh, hang on - I got pelted when I said it was spurs who messed round when the news broke he was off to Chelsea- and people blamed mendes (we know what a monumental twta he is, and we still try dealing with him ) and messing around. And shock horror, we’re woefully short going into the season - YET AGAIN.

It's just a player we looked at. Our success does not rest on this one player who we are not getting.
In the words of Elsa - let it go!

Woefully is a bit harsh.

Agreed, and given that Chelsea offered Neto a 7-year contract despite his injury woes, I don’t think the end result would have been any different.

The real downside of dithering on Neto is that we’ve now left ourselves with relatively little time to sort an alternative, and even if we manage to get one, that player will have had no preseason.

If we’d pressed the issue, the path forward could have been made clearer a month ago.
But tbf Mendes loves to move his players around more often than 7 years. I mean a 4+1 year to us would potentially get another move way before he’s 30. So more dollar in his pocket. We were just dragging our heels as usual imo. Can’t see us getting anyone else in tbf. The other winger on stand by can’t of been close or we would have heard about it by now. Let’s hope the young guys can step up 👍

Think Mendes would have hawked Neto around behind our back even if we had agreed a deal like he did with Diaz. It is his job and when Chelsea bit with their offer of a 7 year contract he was only ever going to go there.
Pretty sure Liverpool wanted Diaz all along. It was just our bid that made them move earlier. Could be wrong.

Not sure why we even bother dealing with Mendes, especially when we’re never going to match what he’s looking for. Our only chance to get one of his players is when no other club wants the player. We rely on that too many times unfortunately.

On the younger players, had a convo regarding our youth and how well the U18 and 23s done last season. I mentioned a few names and the reply was “there’s a huge transition to take the next step and make it into regular first team, Mikey Moore has the best chance”.

TBH I thought a few other names would cement themselves but he wasn’t convinced and simply stated “we’ll see”.
Interesting info about the kids. Ange obviously likes Mikey Moore but I’m surprised there’s so little faith in Donley and Devine. Both seem to have the potential. It very much sounds like they will go out on loan then. Very important, therefore, that they get a good worthwhile loan. It’s got to be at top Championship level at least to help their development. Given how well they did both last year and in preseason I would think they should have some suitors.
