Ok bad example agreed. Am not discussing the example however ings I never said wasn't good enough I just think we need someone who IS going to score that is my point. So if we need to pay for it then so be it but we can't miss another window hoping that he does take to it. I would love him with kane but also a guaranteed or near as. Ok soldado is was blah blah I love him like most but he ain't scoring so we need another.

Ings would satisfy me but I don't believe he is what we need long term. Would he frighten other defenders no. Am not saying we need a big name but I think it's too soon to say he is what we require. I will whole heartedly cheer and support him and am not after a big name either I just want someone that we know will score at the higher level even Hernandez would suffice(please don't discuss him using it as an example).

I like naughton but we need the space and there are others better than him now
oooooooooooooooooooooh.....

Back to the thread....

I would like to think we would go for better than Ings.

Maybe Mitchell identified that there was no better player in Schneiderlin's position and that's why they refused to sell?
Perhaps, but I think they were probably more reluctant to sell Schneiderlin as they had already lost Shaw, Chambers, Lallana, Lambert and Lovren, anymore go and then you start to wonder if they have any ambitions. They had to draw the line at some point.
Although I guess Schneiderlin appears to be one of the main reasons they have done so well. But I do believe they are other players out there just as good and will cost less.

I agree with what your saying but I also agree with what sparx says. We need a proven one at higher level. The opportunity We have is massive to get In the top four. We must invest correctly but also very wisely. Baldini needs to earn his brass and Mitchell needs to really rattle that brain. If ings is the man they think then am behind it I just think its a lot to ask of him. Ok kane has been awesome and done loads better then anyone in the world anticipated but I doubt ings would be another kane IMO

It's all well and good saying that but no one's actually given a reasonable suggestion with regards to someone who's proven at a higher level.

Soldados failings has probably put to bed any chance of levy writing a cheque for a star striker in Europe. We are far far more likely to buy an Ings type player and ask pich to train and get the most out of him. If you like kane you should watch Ings more.

Its now the 12th January, shortly to be 13th January and almost no signings in the PL

Anyone else started to be nervous that this is going to be a lot less activity in this window than they thoughT ? or is it just lots of Chairmen away skiing ?

I had hoped for 4 out and 2 in..........but I'm now looking at the return of Pritchard from loan as being the high point (assuming he does) !

Kaboul will go. Ade is going to be harder to shift. Naughton wants first team football and you can understand why.

Delighted to see that about Kaboul. Will certainly have to name a new captain once/if it happens.
