Can't imagine they'd let them dismantle the olympic stadium, im not one to bash itk but smells abit iffy to me

I did a postgrad uni project on this exact topic a couple of years ago (you could call me a visionary I suppose - posted the idea on here to guage reaction back then too) and trust me the olympic stadium will be a piece of shit (unless they have drastically changed the design), pretty much a temporary structure (think scaffolding covered with plastic sheets with large images of olympic greats) with the original idea to massively downsize to a small athletics venue and possible duel use with a small club like orient. That plus the running track mean it has to be bulldozed to create a decent football stadium. This should have all been sorted years ago so a permanent stadium could be built to do both jobs properly, i.e retractable seating to cover the track like the stade de france.

On dragons ITK, you do not just pick up a design for something as complex as a stadium in a city and plonk it on another site, there are hundreds of different factors to consider like orientation, urban grain, pedestrian movements, impact on surroundings, appearance from key views etc. It would have to be redesigned, not completely perhaps - the seating layout could be reused for example, but drastically revised. If we really are going to start from scratch on the statford site then I would be much more comfortable with the idea than messing about with a huge conversion project on a shit stadium to start with.

The transport links at stratford will be fantastic from what I hear, eurostar, DLR etc. Could allow me to get to alot more games, would be great for our european fans too.

Well, yes, but as I replied to B-C, this kind of info just adds to the 'Levy signing' nonsense.

Cheapest option as far as the ground is concerned is just to stay put and wham up the prices. No-one seems to complain (at least, not enough to walk away), so why not carry on?

yeah, i noticed the reply to BC after i had posted

Correct me if im wrong but dont we already have he second highest average ticket prices behind Arsenal??

Why not add tiers to what we have currently? I'm assuming structurally would be difficult. But in Spain they build upward instead of out ward like we brits do

Eurostar doesn't stop at Stratford, in fact it is called Stratford International despite having no international departures or arrivals.

I've posted an aerial picture in the stadium thread in Spurs chat, disputing the perceived improvements from a transport perspective. Just my opinion mind.

The stadiums you are thinking about are huge though so it is more doable. I think we have squeezed as much as pos out of the lane.

not yet, but this is to be reviewed after 2012. It was the original plan to have the service in place by the olympics

If that is the case how the hell did we pay 500m for scaffolding with plastic sheets and pictures of olympians?

Who is running this project? The mafia?

I know! Compare it to the cost of the Beijing Birdsnest stadium, which looked awesome, you will be shocked. Cant recall the difference but I think it may be substantially more than double. Shame we dont have slave labour in this country! Seriously from what I have seen I cannot believe the cost - and its only temporary.

It's public money into private hands, hence the costs must be inflated, like water flowing downhill.

Just my thoughts. Surely he won't be choosing players he wants himself, or at least he shouldn't anyway...

Wasn't it a similar situation with VDV?

DL will be following his scouts advice, and working a lot more closely with Arry than D Comolli was working with BMJ. I'd imagine targeting Suarez would be consulted with Arry first, especially this early in the transfer window.

Could be he's treating Saurez like an investment? The stock was high, now it's low, Levy wants to buy in now so he can sell it later?

Admittedly I know little about designing a stadium, but we would be replacing a stadium with another similar stadium. Wouldn't most of those factors have been taken into account for the original stadium?
