Seeing as we're getting more and more ITK posted, I guess it's about time I started giving you a round-up of events and renewing this thread every day. Well, I say every day but that will depend on the utterings of others.

We'll kick off with Sherlock Brownhead who, fresh from a game of cluedo said........
Off topic, i bet you (and no it wasn't me!) that Joanna Yeates was killed by her boyfriend, and his alibi is covering for him. Just seems so obvious to me!

Anyway COYS
Anyway from murder ITK to ITK you could murder.......

You all know that Harry likes Pienaar enough now to try and sign him. I can only repeat what has been said on here already and add that Harry really thinks he will be a Big player for us if we manage to sign him.

I'm not gonna back track on Parker because for whatever reason Harry was certainly led to believe that he will definately sign for us. I dont know the whys and the why nots, for it not happening yet, but I will wait with baited breath on that one.

Harry would love Carroll, but as I was told, Harry wouldve loved Dzeko. If Levy is so keen on getting the player in to take us to the next level he would have to invest that kind of money to get this done. They want some of our players, but not enough to lose Carroll for.

Asked about strikers aside from Carroll, and was told that Harry likes what we have already. It would be foolish to change our attack unless an Elite player became available. I really dont think we have set our eyes on anyone in particular as yet. Much like Dzeko, we were kept informed even upto a few days ago, but could we really compete?

We are making our interest known for some big players, but it just aint happening.

Two more things, Kyle Walker and Steven Caulker have big futures at the lane. Harry likes the fact we dont have a reserve team. And this is proof of it. The players have got to be big players for their clubs, its too easy to be a star in the reserves!

..and we are looking at Connor Wickham again. Probably in the summer but we trying to do something here.

Good info, don't like the sound of 'but it just ain't happening' though

It put a bit of a downer on things becuase earlier, Storts posted this.....

Where: Spurs Community
When: 5/1/11

With all my info earlier, i forgot this one, and its only just come back to me!

Babel is a strong possibility still (arry rates him highly apparently and thinks he can work his magic on getting best out of him)

COYS

Nooooooooooooooooo!

Then, some Geordie or another put down his bottle of Brown, took his shirt off exposing a vast beer belly and posted this on his forum.......
waiting for all the knee jerk reactions

Followed a nanosecond later by......

Fucking Crouch.

Identity of Poster protected said:
Jenas is shit sorry

Identity of Poster protected said:
This is just crap.

Identity of Poster protected said:
Will Redknapp react and make a positive change or will he sit there twitching?

Identity of Poster protected said:
well done kranjcar - run into a bloody brick wall.

You didn't have long to wait Bradley

Meanwhile our Twitter thread had this to say about the possibility of our signing Andy Carroll.......

Twitter said:
From The Times journo George Caulkin (based in the NE & obviously at the post match presser tonight):

Pardew: "I can’t say to you strong enough that Andy Carroll will not leave this club in this transfer window. 100 percent."

Ah well. Still, if we're letting Keane go, surely we're confident of signing another striker........ right?

Oh and here's a short message to any Aussies who might happen across this page...........:rofl::rofl:

Finally, if you wish to help keep SC alive and well please make a small donation to the site by clicking here. Do it. Now.

Remember what The Goat said...........

Nice round up. I disagree with the concept that Keane being signed might indicate our confidence of signing a striker though. I'm sure he would've been sold after we signed Van Der Vaart if there is time. We still have enough attacking options atm. Its just the attacking options aren't good enough.

I would be surprised if we end up with 4 strikers and VDV by the end of the window. Whether we sell Crouch or Pav should a striker come in I dont know. I just cant see us changing from having VDV play off a lone striker, and I cant imagine us keeping 3 strikers on the bench.

I dont actually think we'll sign a striker this month. I know its too early to say yet, but I just cant see anyone letting their star striker go mid season. It happened with Dzeko, but that is for silly over the top money. The only player at a stretch I could see being sold is Suarez, but I dont think Harry wants him.

I think we've all built ourselves into a frenzy over Carroll, but looking at the ITK and Twitter I just can't see him coming this window, I think we need to look elsewhere as opposed to wasting time on a no hoper.

I dont think we'll get Carroll in either window tbh. I reckon we'll get Connor Wickham in the summer instead.

Definitely agree about vdV having replaced Keane already and that we'll only have 3 strikers from now on.

I do though think we'll get rid of another striker (probably Crouch, as Pav is apparently in contract talks) and bring in a big forward signing. We dropped a bollock with this already in the summer and have to make amends. It'll be the difference between coming top 4 again or not, so that c.£20m investment has to be made.

I wonder if what the Goat said was cryptic in some way?

Perfect. That will mean his price hasn't gone through the roof just yet like it has with Carroll. He only turns 18 in march. I think he's more in keeping with our other young signings like Lennon, Huddlestone and Dawson in the past. Better than spending over the odds like with Bent and Bentley.

Ipswich were looking at £12m+ last summer at the age of 17 so i can't imagine they have lowered their price. I'm not convinced by him (to be honest i've only watched him play a couple of times and the rest is highlights), and his value is inflated because of the fact he's English. At least with Carroll you know he can score goals in the top flight so for an extra 5-6 million he'd be the far safer bet. Truth is however, last night showed again that if we hadn't signed VDV we would be in the mid table battle fighting off the relegation candidates at the moment as we simply don't have any players on the field who look like scoring (baring VDV and Bale every 2 or 3 games). Our strikers lack the ability to grab the game by the scruff of the neck. Saha was so much better than Crouch last night and that tells you something. Signing Wickham will do nothing to address this, we need a top striker now or we won't make the CL next season. Come on Defoe have one of your 10 game runs.

I've got a feeling we won't sign a striker this window.

Barrios - Too expensive. Dortmund are in a title race, it would be stupid to sell now.
Llorente - Too expensive. Possibly Real Madrid bound.
Cardozo - Was he ever really a target?
Carroll - Newcastle blatantly will not sell him in January.
Suarez - Not the No. 9 that it is glaring obvious we need.

That would be such a let down, especially considering Crouch can't seem to score in the PL this season

worrying that harry seems happy with our strikeforce, even more worrying is the stat that bent had (before his current drought) gone 4 games without a sunderland goal. Compare that to 1 in 17 crouch...

i appreciate crouch brings more than goals but thats what hes being paid for, the fact hutton has more goals than him this season is frankly a disgrace. Watched the inter highlights as a bit of a cheer up and still cant get over his miss in that game. utter garbage

How do you know this.

None of us know how hard we are working behind the scenes to try and obtain a striker of the calibre that we need.

Exactly. Just because we haven't signed a striker in the first 5 days of the transfer window doesn't mean we're not trying.

Even if we don't get a striker in January it doesn't mean we're not trying. January is clearly a difficult time to do business and strikers are the most expensive commodity in the game. Looking back at previous January windows I don't think too many 20m+ deals have been done and that seems to be the amount people are expecting us to have to spend on this world class striker.

I believe he is referring to some ITK the other day that suggested Harold was happy with the current lot and would not see it as a disaster if no new striker came.

I'd be very surprised if Crouch is being paid to score goals. He has never been a goalscorer in his career. He has always been a striker who assists players around him. I'm not his biggest fan, but he assists goals (like he did again last night) more than our other strikers. He is really a Heskey in the sense that he is a player used to create openings for those around him.

Crouch has 6 assists in the League so far this season. That's what we're paying him for. If we're expecting him to score the goals then that's a failing on our part.

Defoe also has only 4 goals in his last c.30 league games now. Even Keane managed 11 in 40 during his second spell.
