I would be absolutely ecstatic if we went for Eriksen and Alderweireld both, are you kidding me. That would complete a climax to an already orgasmic summer.

Yeah, if those two are the 'double dutch' signings, it'd be strong moves to build up squad depth with high upside. The problem I'd have is we would have a really hard time getting Eriksen, Siggy and Holtby match minutes. I'm honestly worried about Holtby's future with us and it's so unfortunate in my mind as I feel we've been missing a player of his creative ability.

Come on Snarf, don't lose heart!
At least wait 10-15 games see where we are with things...
We're in danger of getting a few 'big-club-problems'; good players getting minimal minutes, good problems to have.
Holtby is fine, he's versatile, eager & should have settled a bit better now. Plus with fitness doubts over Sandro & Dembele, Chadli & Paulinho maybe needing time to get up to speed, there'll be good opportunities for everyone to stake a good claim.

Isn't this about the time somebody says 'isn't this about the time JJ turns up?' o_O

I mentioned this over at the Bale thread earlier, but we had ITK from JJ last night stating that the deal for him was pretty advanced but he had hoped it might still fall through.

With the Tweets tonight seemingly more aggressive/open on all the Bale shit, could it be possible that we now are certain he's staying?

This comes on the back of some reports stating that there were supposed to be critical talks between us and Real Madrid over today and potentially tomorrow. Maybe Real Madrid have no way of meeting our demands and as a result have folded?

And, along with that we now have Suarez proclaiming in the open that he wants to be moved. Could it be that Real Madrid have already made their interest known and now he's eager to move on to Real?

It just seems like the way things have unfolded over the past few hours they could possibly be connected. Of course, there's a strong chance they aren't connected at all and I'm dumb.

Well Cadena Ser , Spanish radio have now said that that meeting will not happen now and postponed 'possibly' to friday.

@ VoiceOfReason - I have actually met that person recently and spoken a tiny bit of 'shop' with them ie Spurs tv. Nice guy. It was a little dark in the room but maybe not a good idea to to start trying to assign identities to ITK's ?

I could see a midfield 3 of Sandro, Eriksen and Holtby actually. Maybe against 'lesser sides.'

The club then needs to do better when it comes to preparing people for interviews with the scumfucks that infest the media. Don't give them an inch.
Why? He told the truth.

If we sell him, it will not be the media that is the cause, it will be because Levy got a deal he thinks is worth it.

Its up to the media whether they want to keep running this or not, and even if he had not even been interviewed, if they want they'll still find some way to spin it. At least now we get a good interview with someone who seems a really decent bloke!

There won't be any time for a meeting with them Friday if we're tying up a double dutch signing, which we always do on Fridays

Theres a few people with access to the social media password.

the sad part is they will be be disciplined for interacting with fans. As that is not the way donna cullen wants things done.

just praying it aint the rather attractive girl I am trying to seduce!

Donna needs to pull the plug out. Sweet Zulu Buddha. That was possibly the first non-robotic action from THFC in ages. I would promote those people. :D

Alderweireld makes a ton of sense, really. He will be asked to come in and immediately contribute in some capacity, but when everyone is healthy he will be a rotation option as he continues to develop better technique (something he really needs to do). But, if he flops it's not a huge financial burden as he'd likely be on relatively cheap wages and his generally cheap transfer fee would not represent a huge hit on the clubs finances.

And, if he pans out and in a few years time he's a legit CB for us, his value could nearly triple by the time he's 27.

It's a smart financial move that would probably be even more attractive for Levy as he knows what it'll cost to land him and Levy surely knows he'd prefer to come to us.

Side Note: But can we seriously put into place some sort of partnership with Ajax?

yup, he'd probably start the season and then when Kaboul/Dawson are ready, if Kaboul fully returns, rotate as 3rd/4th choice with Daws. Basically a probable upgrade on Caulker for a ~£3M profit. Vlad does look more entertaining though

Eriksen would be a great signing. The kind of signing we've been craving for the whole of last season. Holtby had talent but isn't playing to his potential at the moment.

Over the course of the transfer window the majority of people are saying we need creativity on the wing/forward position which is true but we will only cut open teams consistently if we have a player like eriksen to thread through balls to soldado or to our wing forwards who cut inside the opposition wing/full backs and go through on goal in these channels.

With sandro protecting the defence and dembele/Paulinho given a box to box role we will be truly formidable!!

IMO eriksen would make our attacking play tick and a player like him is who we really need since the departure of vdv and modric.

The one thing I would say about that Snarf is that the mods or JJ had it pulled down as ITK. While I didn't converse with JJ about it, I did PM when I posted to ask he check and make sure it was up to snuff with the caveat that he tell the mods if I made an error. I kind of think that one, might have been a quick note and not actual information that he felt worth considering. I would wait to make assessment on that info until he returns to clarify. Hope that helps

Cheers.

All this Bale shitstorm has taken the gloss off what we have done so far and meant we have fuck all else to think about for the last couple of weeks.

Bit of a wanker really.

I haven't seen much of Alderweird but Eriksen is the type of player we are crying out for. Someone who thinks and has a bit of craft.

Is Alderweireld all that good?

I know this is stealing Liverpool's targets but we were linked with Ilori (who's young, so like a Chiriches alternative) but what about Papadopolous from Schalke?

All pretty different price tags/stages of development. Ilori is young but relatively inexperienced and to think he would come in and be an immediate contributor at the level we'd hope for him to be at would be too much to ask. Papadopolous is young and very talented but as a result he has a relatively big price tag. Alderweireld is the oldest of the bunch at 24 but has a bunch of experience but also has some question marks in regards to his technique but he also comes with an appealing price tag given he only has a year left on his contract and everyone knows he needs to be moved by Ajax.

Way too expensive. He would be like double the caulker money. We already have Verts who is a clear beast and Kaboul who could be one if fit. We don't need another world beater necessarily, just need someone solid and preferably young.
