Toby in 3 minds, Spain, Manchester.
And another mind...?
United would purely be a move for money. I've been very underwhelmed by them this season. Are they really better than us?

At least when Walker went to City it was quite obvious that City were going to be vastly improved.

Depends what United do in the summer I suppose. I’d be very surprised if they didn’t spend big.

I’m really hoping the third mind he’s in is us. Keeping him would be massive.

Wonder where that would leave DeLight though.

Would love to see Toby get a start in a back 3 tomorrow, that may indicate all is not lost with him for us.

Really would love Toby to stay, signing at least a three year deal. I guess that would equate to less than buying a new £30mill ish player to replace him. De Ligt could probably do with at least another year developing at Ajax, and we try for him to replace Jan next year or year after. To win something the first year in the stadium, would be immense. To do that, we need to be keeping our top players, and Toby is one of the main ones. Fingers crossed. Come on Toby, we love ya, imagine lifting that Prem trophy at NWHL!!!! COYS!!

If Toby decided to stay and signed a new contract that would be better than any signing we could make.

IF?! We could get Lagit, or however you spell his name, he will be a better superior player very quickly. That is my opinion. Also, Toby has very risky weakness in certain part of.....IF?! He stayed, and signed a 4 year contract, I doubt he will maintain 40% of those matches.

Personally speaking, with all the above to bear in mind, I would sell him now, opposed to keeping him, at a liability of circa 40-50 million in wages, bonuses etc. But most fans don’t see it this way. Right?

I agree with you. Toby has been great, he could very well be great again, but it comes with a high risk, given the amount of time he has missed due to injury these last two seasons.

If we can sign Toby to an incentive based contract, then it would be less risky from a financial standpoint. But, it’s unlikely the player, given his age and current worth, would be amenable to such a deal.

If it’s true that he has a borderline chronic issue, there’s no chance Levy signs off on a lucrative deal for something representing significant diminishing returns. We didn’t get to where we are today by baldy being foolhardy or sentimental with the wage budget.

It’s not a straightforward decision is it? Take the money now and gamble on a young player with a ton of unproven upside. Or, wait a year to sell Toby, and get less money and potentially miss out on the DeLigt kid.

I guess to me the deal breaker is Poch. Whatever he wants is what should be backed. I trust his judgment implicitly.
