Indeed. Signing/using existing good players should never be a problem. Ever. If it is, then something needs changing at the club. Hint hint.

where is the price of 10-12 million coming from for van der vaart?

just because we bought him on the cheap, doesent mean he isnt worth any less than £16m to the right buyer in my view.

at 29 he's still got a good 4 years at the very least and if you look at some of the other transfer prices at the moment, 10m for van der vaart is just ridiculous if im honest. He doesent want to leave, and we dont want to sell, so surely any possibility of a sale has to be for mega money?

We already have a superb understudy to VDV in Kranjcar. Never got used there once.

Probably because he hasn't played there since WC 2006. Even then he wasn't that impressive. So much so that his Dad who played him there was accused of nepotism down to the quality of his performances.

So you think he's even better as a right midfielder, where he has been played for us ?

Based on actually watching the player on many, many occasions, I can't actually think of a more natural position for him than the "VDV" position. Can you ?

Going against my better judgement, can we trust Harry that Kranjcar just hasn't shown enough in training to warrant a back up role to perhaps our most influential forward thinking player?!

Considering the amount of times that Rafa has gone off round the hour mark/70 mins, you'd have thought bringing on Kranjcar would be a wise and calculated move but there must be some unanswered questions as to why he never got those opportunities for even a cameo role.

Redknapp's tactical ineptitude would be my best guess.

It was Redknapp who turned Niko into a LM at Pompey. His skillset is such that he should have been tried in the VDV role, but then GDS should have been tried on the right when we played 4-2-3-1 and never was.

At c£7 million, Gylfi looks a decent buy as a squad player. However, Kranjcar, Corluka, Gio and Pienaar are living proof that rotation isn't really Redknapp's thing.

Kranjcar did play AM for portsmouth also we didn't play pienaar at AM, LW or RW this season so its unlikely Redknapp would start now unless he has realised the mistakes of last season

He played Left Midfield for Portsmouth, just as he did for us before we discovered Gareth Bale.

After VDV, Nico is our most natural attacking mid. given a run he'd get 10-12 goals a season and the same amount of assists
