Given that Holtby is 22 he won't be free surely? Under the Bosman ruling it was players over 23 that could move with no transfer fee I thought.

I may be wrong but i thought that was only the case if they were moving to a club within the same country

if we make one signing this window i would hope it was Moutinho, just ahead of a striker.

I really think an addition of someone with a bit of craft in the middle would turn us into a seriously strong team.

I'd love Moutinho Holtby etc. etc. but forgive me what is Gylfi's preferred role and tactic? Isn't he a creative passer. Isn't he the supposed to come good at the 10 spot the guy just needs more playing time.. He's looked decent recently.

Another old friend from the summer window is up: apparently we are getting Zeki Fryers (Manyoo kid who went on a free to Standard Liege - we couldn't take him as would have had to pay a tribunal fee and the gossip was that we did a deal to park him at Standard until Jan so we could avoid paying United for him) according to the Daily Mail today.

I've come to the conclusion, and I don't know if you all have too, but I just feel that A&C just has far too much free time on his hands.

Just had to get that thought down in print, carry on......

I'm sure that the club know how important this window is. After last season when we were 3rd and then fell away badly, do you think Levy would risk this happening again? Leandro seems a goer again which is promising and maybe this time the starts have aligned correctly and we definitely need that creative mid.

Mega money deals don't happen over night but I'm confident we will get what we need come the end of the month.
Yes. Absolutely I do.

The most important place we need to strengthen this window is in the creativity department

Moutinho, Holtby or Sneider are no 1 on my list, we seem to lack creativity in midfield and this seems to reflect on our goals per game ratio. Sandro and Dembele have been the most solid pairing in midfield that I've seen in long, We just need some creativity to get the ball moving to our attacking 3. Having a creative player also allows for Dembele to get upfront closer to the box and would stop him from having to sit so deep and collecting the ball only to not have the right player to distribute too.Failling these 3 signings I'd be more than happy with a RW who has a creative touch.

We also seem to be in need of another striker aswell both Adebayor and Defoe are getting on now and we need an extra 10 goals this season Aubameyang would be my dream but that's not happening so I'd settle for Damiao (also unlikely to happen)

A bale replacement is something we all need to start considering. I will be in tears the day he walks away from WHL but I'd be consoled with a player like Atsu

I've enjoyed what AVB has done for us the first half of the season and we are in a strong position now, with a few simple squad additions would cement our place in the top 4 this season, but from past experience I know this is too much to ask for as a spurs fan. Here's to a hopeful Jan Window :)

You would think they have been working on these deals since the last window...so hopefully DL will not wait until 31st!

This is not meant to sound as provoke-laden as it does:

When was the last time someone moved for mega money in January? I may have to caveat that by saying "and is actually any good"?

Sturridge does not count, as he does not pass the caveat test. ;)

Hello lovelies - I've almost finished my Swindon exile. Soon you'll get more fun posts from me. Bet you can't wait EH?

Our goal per game ratio is on par with City Chelsea and Arsenal. Watching every game I know it could be better but it's nice to keep some perspective.

I agree, although i think last season Jan Levy was being cautious with Harry, who was about to go on trial and potentially get locked up / suspended by the FA pending the outcome. Plus i do think Harry must come up with some ridiculous transfer targets at times.

Leandro will move to a club this Jan, Inter simply can't take the risk on keeping him, without any real competitive matches for him to shine in until the summer. He could lose half his value quite easily by then.

I'm not one to know stats so thanks for that. What I meant was we could be scoring 3-4 per game and not scraping wins together with 1-2 per game and a creative midfielder would help immensely.

Agree, and as such Moutinho would be be the preferred option over an attacking midfield player this window IMO.

If it is to be a straight choice between Moutinho and Willian for example i would want Mouts every time. It may even be a choice between Mouts and Holtby on the basis of the wages that the latter one seems to want.

only United with their lot of strikers has an insane amount of goals.. City has 2 more goals than us in the same amount of games and they've got an absurd amount of quality up front.
