I've felt for a while it would be just Sess and Lo Celso left to sign this window and I was happy with that. Considering how Betis have messed us about I'm not surprised if we're only confident on Sess. If we only land Sess the only thing that can save us (to some extent) really is new contracts for those on their final year. 3 injuries already though so we're really putting ourselves up against it.

Couldn't care less about Sessegnon. Good talent but it's not like he's Sancho level and he doesn't even have a permanent position yet. We only barely finished top 4 last season and we're already suffering injury issues. Eriksen will at best be disinterested throughout the season, and next year rose, Toby, Jan, aurier and Lloris will all need looking at depending on how they're performing/contract situations. That's not to mention that we need a defensive midfielder and another forward. Wtf is going on, where has all of the money from the last two years gone? 70-100m over 18 months (3 windows) is pathetic. Definitely not getting top 4 given how the other teams are strengthening and how poor we were at times last season. Just insane management from the board. Either pay up or move on to another target who's more attainable. This can't keep happening.

You can't say that Sess is not a Sancho level regarding to potential.

And ITK said we have money, but it's impossible to spend +100m every season.

"If you were buying a car and you could spend £20k 6 weeks ago or £15k now out of your pocket what would you do ? Then when you want to actually spend the £15k it suddenly turns into £21k with loads of other bits what would you do ?"

We tried but it’s not our fault?
JJ on, I presume, GLC. Confirms the previous ITK on them moving goalposts.

I dont understand the need to post every single JJ tweet.

Only post it, if he truly gives up info which seems a ITK.

Bit annoying to see this thread being spammed , even when he has a normal conversation with someone

To be fair he's actually giving information which is infinitely more relative than 99% of what has been posted on here in the last week.

We need minimum GLC, Sess and Bruno for this to be successful.

Eriksen clearly wants out, so get rid.

If it’s only Sess I can honestly see us in 6th/7th

This fucking football club, never, ever willing to push on because of the stubborn fucking owners

Arsenal have a better squad than us as it stands FFS

Post of the
This window -- coming off the back of an appearance in a CL Final and a world-record profit, with the stadium completed and massive commercial sponsorships wrapped up -- represented an absolutely massive opportunity for the club. The manager, who undoubtedly deserves full backing, entered into the window explicitly calling for a rebuild.

If the best Levy can do is to bring in a six-months-belated replacement for our best midfielder and two teenagers while likely selling one of our most influential players, he genuinely needs to be stripped of any responsibility over transfers.
Post of the day.

I said the same last summer but he's still at that negotiation table.

He has 3 days to prove me wrong.

To answer the question, I'd have learned from last time I tried to get a car late, and from other people trying to buy a car that prices have changed and you can no longer just get expect the salesman to reduce the price when he knows you are desperate

The two prospective deals for Fernandes and GLC seem to be following the same pattern of most of our recent targets - the selling club have a clear idea of the value and we seem to dither about for months not offering close and then not really have any alternative targets. If we won't pay their value, why waste our time chasing unobtainable players. I understand the need to negotiate these prices down, but we seem to be repeating past mistakes.

The gaps in the squad were clear last year - sorry to say but if we can't get Plan A, then we need to be more flexible. I refuse to believe there aren't a couple of affordable players out there who could offer something.

By all accounts there are only 1 or 2 players in world football who can improve us. However we won’t pay the money. Instead we will stick with Walkers Peters. Embarrassing yet again. Flaws throughout our plan as a club that will result again in the nearly team next season.

What I don’t understand is that right now the clubs stock is the highest it’s ever been. All our rival have strengthened. We scraped top 4 last season due to a lot of luck. We won’t have the same amount this season. Why aren’t we improving? Why can’t we get the deals over the line? Is it purely finance/wages? That’s the only thing I can think of, if I’m right then the club needs to get with the times. What the hell is going on?!

A&C dedicated this thread to a long time member a couple of days back. If only for him and others who have lost a loved one recently, I really hope there’s some real positives coming our way. Just a bit of perspective needed here even if it feels like a familiar long summer ride.

Right everyone stop and breath FFS, please calm down. Don’t get this thread closed down 3 days before the transfer window closes. Save the meltdown for 5pm Thursday. Lots can happen in 3 days

Funny how the general theme of "if we can keep Eriksen, get NDombele, Clarke and Sessegnon the window will be amazing" has turned into bedwetting, circle jerks, and cries of "Poch will leave!"

I say funny, I mean genuinely embarrassing.

Because people are rightly concerned Eriksen will go, then we will have no AM

Things can change so quickly, we really need to pump the brakes a tad. JJ is an amazing source of information for us, but I think people around here need to understand that the GLC transfer in particular has shown that things can change quickly. Betis' actions are pretty transparent (moving the goalposts when we get close to or agree a deal, and then put out info that other clubs are interested, etc. only for us to find out they aren't).

We all know the club lets us down with transfers more often than not, but there's enough evidence from what ITK have relayed regarding the GLC transfer that while the twists and turns haven't worked in our favor, they very likely could shift back at any time.

Take a deep breath, we got about 3 days left, it's plenty of time for things to change, and until the window shuts don't go freaking out just yet. Even if history tells us this is going along with a narrative we've seen before.
