Lack of ITK since yesterday afternoon. Pathetic effort.

But on the last bit of ITK...I hope that any loan for Carroll is to a Premiership team as if not there's no point. It might be that AVB thinks he's ready to be part of our first team squad, but if not he has to go to a team at a decent level.

I agree

Seeing as he has gone on loan to Leyton Orient & Derby, in successive seasons, it seems he’s progressing well enough to go on loan to a Premiership team now, perhaps Pritchard too. The only reason not to being that he may be in the plans to play for us more and more, but really he needs a few consecutive games at this level so he can be properly assessed.

Does anyone find it a tad odd that we might be able to buy a Brazil international (formerly 1st choice) striker, of a tender age of 22/23, who will inevitably improve, all for £12-15million...?

I'm not too sure that stacks up. I'd love to, I really would, but I can't get excited about this yet...not again.

Edit - I'm not in any way knocking ITK's here either...this stuff keeps me going all Summer (y)

This is what is niggling at me too. I don't want to sound negative but maybe he's just not that good after all. Altough I haven't actaully seen him, from what I remember reading he was a relative unknown who then had a magic 12/18 months in a weak league, after which Inter saw $signs. Now that his form has slumped and no one else is interested, they are realising that he's not worth more than £15m max.

It could go two ways. Either our waiting game will finally pay off or we buy a dud. I just have an uneasy feeling about it. Then again, we didn't know much about Sandro and that turned out pretty damn good, so what the hell do I know.

This is my worry Jim lad, I have said this from day one, just after we were first linked with him the season after winning the double.
I am very happy to e proved wrong though.

I know DL likes to string out his negotiations, but surely 51 years is pushing it a bit...Christ, that's even longer than we've been linked to Huntelaar.

does seem strange no one else is willing to put up any serious money for him, and we dont seem to have any rivals this time around either even though his value is dropping.

A potentially risky signing i think.

Internacional rejected our bid in january (£20m). Why would we get him now for £17m?!

I would love to see him in a Spurs-shirt but i´m afraid im not going to :(
Where the hell are you getting these figures from, he is worth nowhere near that, I thought it was £14million in jan accepted

We can't have it both ways though. There's been a lot of criticism from fans for signing players like Dempsey who are seen as low-risk, so maybe we do need to take a risk for once.

We've also been scouting this guy for 3 years now so surely we must be certain that we think he's good enough.

Mate I totally agree. The dude who gave this a "doh" rating is a dud himself!

I remember when we were linked with a double swoop for Cavani and Kjaer and an awful lot of people were down on Cavani as his record wasn't great either domestically or internationally.

Point is, these are the type of deal's a club like us can do realistically - it may pay off handsomely or not as the case may be but people really need to get a huge dose of realism in this transfer window and not be so glass half empty all the time.

We are always complaining we didn't take the plunge on the likes of Suarez/lewandowski/Torres at xx million and now they are worth triple.

Now we are complaining that diamo might not cost enough!

We've been after him for years, I trust the scouting considering we've wanted him that long!

I just think - lets give the fella a chance - Like TSH said, I very much doubt that DL is just doing this to make a point. We have had plenty of flops over the years granted but people were writing Modic off before he kicked a ball too...

I agree, and I have faith in AvB to spot a player of potential. My concern is that this chase started before AvB's time and its more a Levy signing that an AvB one.

If indeed AvB is totally backing the move thats good enough for me, even though he wouldnt be my top choice should we have decided to risk it a bit more in the transfer market - never been very impressed with what I have seen.

Totally willing to give signings the benefit of the doubt, but that doesnt mean some signings dont leave me a little uneasy or questioning. I guess thats borne of seeing us sign Rasiak, Saha, Postiga and their ilk.
