I don’t know how much Garner would cost, but I can’t imagine he would be too far off price for Gray (assuming Rodon is part of the deal).

Gray has the potential to be world class, whereas I don’t think Garner does. Plus Gray would be club trained after a few years.

If it is one or the other, I’d much rather we go for Gray, even if he does cost a bit more.

I think Everton signed him 2 seasons ago for about £15 million. I'm not sure his price has gone up to the £40 million price range that Gray is in.

If Mendes is involved it A) won't stay under the radar and B) will likely end up with him wearing a Liverpool shirt
The Mendes link is certainly concerning. We already know Neto has a number of admirers, if we are reconsidering going back in for him its a good bet others are to. As with Eze it does seem like we have a few weeks head start given the need of other clubs to sell or make it past the PSR deadline (im assuming) but Wolves and Mendes will want to get as many teams fighting for him in order to raise his price/contract/agent fee one would assume. I wouldn't be surprised if Mendes thinks he could get Neto to a Liverpool/Arsenal/City. Realistically neither Neto or Eze will likely agree to a move during the Euros and by the time it finishes the market might be wide open for both players. Going to be a tricky deal to navigate.

It may be on the basis of our stronger PSR position we can offer more than the likes of Liverpool/Arsenal/City are prepared/able to pay on the basis I feel all 3 of them have higher priorities to address. So whilst they could in theory pay more than us, doing so could hamstring them for other targets they consider of more importance to their transfer plans.

Hence we may be the “best” option in that Neto sounds like he’s a priority for Ange thus we will be prepared more to make it happen, as this is the area we deem most important to address and if it has a knock on effect on other areas then it’s ok since they’re not *as* big an area to address.

Good riddance. I truly hope this is not the guy we land.

Username checks out.

I wasn’t keen on Ivan, but honestly, I could have easily seen him scoring loads of goals for us.
Just goes to show that the media are constantly fabricating and twisting. The recent splooge of ITK has been very welcome. I was very surprised that Eze was actually being considered. Same with Neto.

I suppose one positive is the targets look to be pretty on point, so it looks like there’s a lot of alignment upstairs in terms of what we need.

Ange likes garner at Everton
Going to put this behind a spoiler tag, cause many people don’t like my tactics theories👍

If Ange has plans to change our build up pattern against certain matchups from our usual 2-3 setup with two FB’s inverting, into a 3-2 setup with just one FB inverting, then it is very important that the one FB that does invert is extremely capable in midfield. More so than either Udogie and Porro currently are.

This is because they’ll be taking on much more midfield responsibilities due to playing in a midfield two rather than a three. Primarily they will be tasked more with receiving the ball from the defence with their backs to the opposition but will also need to have more midfield defensive nous to play in a pivot.

In my opinion, James Garner, without being an outstanding player, would certainly be an outstanding fit for this role. And thus for the tactical flexibility he’d provide, I think he could be a very underrated signing.

Tbh not long ago people were saying Olise would be too much of a risk because of his hamstring injuries.

Neto is class and I've decided I'm still all in on him

Jury is still out on olise I think he only played 15 games this season. Both are big risks imo. Ultimately getting rid of sessegnon and potentially having Neto for 10-15 games is an upgrade at the right price
