No, he played for Sporting before Porto (very controversial transfer). Don't know how many coaches he had in that time.
My point is... He thinks AVB is a top coach! But I don't think he's experienced many other coaches in his pro career.

Well the Telegraph seem to think all will be revealed on Tuesday...

Well, Tuesday actually makes a lot more sense to be honest. Announcing things on Sunday and it will be overshadowed by the Final. Monday will most likely be a fair amount of discussion on the Final, on how either Spain is the greatest team of all time, or on how Italy managed to beat them and the parallels of the last time there was a match fixing scandal in 2006 and the Italians banded together to win it all and now they've done it again. So the newspapers on Monday will be fairly full.

On Tuesday though, we can dominate the news, and honestly, spacing out some signings over Tue, Wed, and Thur means that Spurs can pretty much dominate the football news world for the rest of a week. Announcing Sunday or Monday means we end up overshadowed by, or at least competing against, the Euro Final.

As has been pointed out in the Joao thread; he never played under Jose.

Actually makes me worry as to the authenticity of the article as a whole. If that part is bs then what about the 'jump at the chance to play for AVB again' bit.

But then I think if The Sun were to fabricate an AVB interview it would be to implicate him in the Lockerbie Bombing or something.

Well, how many top coaches have any of us even met? He's a professional player, and not an untalented one at that, who has direct experience of working under the guy. If he thinks, after all his yrs of working his nuts off through youth, reserve and first team football under various coaches and managers and likes the cut of AVB's jib, I'm willing to listen to his opinion. Not as gospel of course but it's at least as valid as anyone's. More valid than most, in fact.

And having seen the post in the Moutinho fred, the entire article might be utter cobblers anyway.

plenty of Portugal coaches at major tournaments.
Like who???? How many years has he been playing for Portugal? If he had played under Mourinho, Capello, Pep, Ancelloti etc etc some real big names in the coaching world and then said AVB is a top coach, i would take his opinion more into consideration! But having only played in Portugal of course he thinks AVB is a top coach.

Adebayor has played under Wenger, Mourinho, Mancini, HR, if he said AVB is a top coach then you would have to believe it. Yes experienced the best! Moutinho hasn't experienced any big name managers for him to compare AVB.

Agree with the logic. Tuesday makes far more sense - even though its 3 July and the general thinking is that AVB can be announced on 1 July when any (Chelsea related) contractual issues are out of the way.

But its another 24 hours for Spurs fans to agonise through.

I think the point is that if he did say that and HE thinks AVB is a top coach, then we have a great chance of signing him. Whether AVB IS a top coach, that is another matter. I personally think he is, but then what do I know.

Fucking hell. Talking ourselves back to TUESDAY now are we?

'Actually makes perfect sense to announce 1st September cos by then we'll have got a settled squad and a dodgy start to recover from y'know manager'll have summit like 2 points from 8 games and we'll be thankful that he came in and saved us from ourselves... you've never had it so good... I had that Guardiola in here the other day, nice fella, plays a lot of golf...'

I think the key point is that I'm not working on Tuesday and therefore have the opportunity to find out Spurs-related news slightly earlier than I would normally. Obviously Levy has factored this in.

I'm really happy that I started a new job on Friday and they don't block SC so I can stay in tuned with the news as it happens. Unfortunately they do block the the social website that shall not be named, so I won't know if something is happening unless I look.

And yes, SC was the very first site I checked to see if it was blocked :D
