If ITK is correct, I honestly won’t be too upset if Skriniar doesn’t happen. I imagine Inter will be, though. We’ve certainly got enough quality at CB to survive until January.

Alasdair Gold has said we’ll likely return for Skriniar in January if nothing happens now. Conte is a stubborn bastard and it’s quite clear he did not want Skriniar in his squad. From a negotiating POV it really doesn’t help Inter’s hand if they’ve got a player they value at £45m sitting on the bench for half a season. Spurs could quite easily return with this bid of £32m + a/o’s and say it’s clear he isn’t wanted and his value can only have decreased given his lack of playing time.
Skriniar has already played this season. He will not sit on the bench if her remains. Under contract until 2023, so there is no push from the contract side. His valuation will remain as it is. Ultimately, the question is, do they prefer him gone? And second, what effect will it have having a player who would prefer to be elsewhere remain with the team? Modric was about 80% when he wanted to go to Chelsea. Eriksen last year was perhaps 60-70%.

Some are jonesing for more money or a longer term. To my understanding, that is not the case with Skriniar. He wants to play for Mourinho and would be happy to leave. Inter (as Levy would) wants to get as much as possible for their asset. Levy knows his number. Either Inter's desire to keep him will be more than Levy's number, or this gets done Monday. I do not see us paying North of 40M GBP (total including add-ons).

Final day tomorrow and I'm not expecting much to happen unless Skrinier can be done. That said there are an awful lot of players being offered all over the place.

I expect tomorrow to be the busiest deadline day ever with most of the deals being loans I'm so glad we've got nearly all our business done because tomorrow would be a nightmare to get multiple loans over the line on favourable terms. They are generally a lot harder to negotiate than outright sales because there are more variables.

We are extremely happy with where we are but obviously would still like a CB. That said we are not in a position of desperation, so only one that fits exactly what Jose wants will do.

Expect nothing but you never know with how things are in the game financially.

Definitely a chilled deadline day for once. If Skriniar happens then great, if not then it's not the end of the world. Top window and before tomorrow I want to say thanks to you Trix, Herc and other ITKs this window. Been a remarkable one.

This is exactly what I wanted to hear

It’s all good now.

We’re a shit hot CB short of being a shit hot team, but adding another good/solid defender for the sake of it doesn’t make sense.

You could argue back up for PEH could make sense, but we’re fine for now and will have Skipp next year.

Great stuff, thanks guys

Thanks guys as ever.

Will be nice just to relax and watch the mad scramble by others – with anything we might do tomorrow a lovely extra bonus.

I wonder is tonight’s result both our game and Liverpool might trigger Levy to take a slight gamble and pay what Inter want. Backing Jose and showing serious ambition could really pay dividends. This season is wide open

God love you Trix. Everybody else is busy getting shit-faced after us hitting six at Old Trafford and you're still posting ITK!

Skriniar obviously would be fantastic to add to our already talented squad but I have to say, if we likely don't then we can all still sit back and be supremely satisfied with our summers business.

Amazing to be in a TW where there isn’t the usual gnashing of teeth and frustration as we leave all our business for the last day and inevitably come up short

I’m now torn between thinking we can be happy without Skriniar because our side looks great and our window has been torn, or desperately wanting him as it could be the difference between the quadruple or not ?

Amazing to be in one where we can't point to even one single area of our squad and say there's an obvious weakness there. How strange to have a relaxing deadline day for the right reasons. If Skriniar joins, great. If not, today has highlighted that there's no single outstanding team in the PL this season. Everyone's vulnerable, the usual rules and expectations are out the window, and we've got a balanced squad that neither the club nor the fans has any particular concerns about.

thanks to all the whoring and ITK posts. Got to say this will be the 1st window where I'm not on the edge about getting anyone in. last summer I missed the final day through illness, this season I might just lay in bed for the sake of it (though knowing me i'll be ill anyway)

have a good one tomorrow and also a special thanks to @Rob, @Archibald&Crooks and all the other staff

I really like having the stresses of deadline day - im gonna miss it. I hope we get someone in like a loan just to feel a bit involved
