I've been saying for 2 weeks now I've got a bad feeling about this window and it's only got stronger as time has gone on.

The optimistic side of me is hoping info is tight right now and ITKs not directly linked to the club are giving a lot of opinion and fearing the worst too. JJ shooting down the Cook link wouldn't make sense if we are only in for HGs, he'd be one of our best options.

It's all well and good banging on about good housekeeping and homegrown quotas but it's clear who we want out and a club with real ambition would have to take a leap of faith in selling/loaning them abroad in the 3 weeks after the PL window ends. They are worth what people are willing to pay in the end and no PL teams seem interested. After all we're told it's not a money thing.

The only thing that gives me hope is that I do believe Levy has ambition and I do believe he knows Poch deserves better.

West Ham have spent around £100m this window and don't seem to be finished, and they have no superstars to shift to recoup it. Please don't tell me losing money on GKN, Llorente and Janssen is going to make us 'do a Leeds'.

Stick them in the reserves then. Janssen, GKN, Sissoko, Llorente won't be starting games or even be on the bench if we have a fully fit squad and will soon look to leave if they are playing all their matches wearing luminous bibs all the time.

I'm sorry but we're Tottenham Hotspur! Are you seriously telling me that we aren't letting scruffy shit like GKN, Janssen & Llorente prevent us from buying in what already is a very niche market for us? This window is turning into an absolute joke, new Stadium or not!

If you want to be a big boy club Levy, act like a big boy Chairman and back your club!
Totally agree- this is fastly sounding like horseshit. What, we couldn’t buy the players we needed to step up the next level and facilitate our global progression because of some fucking fringe players? It’s never going to wash with the majority of spurs fans.

A few ITKs have said that were not only after HG players, so I doubt this is the case personally.

Been saying this all along. If it's purely about squad places and not money then what's the issue in loaning them out. I'm afraid we will have to take financial hits to get these players off the wage bill.

We don't have to take the financial hit. I mean I'd love us to loan Llorente and then pull 100 mill out of thin air for a great player to replace him, but it doesn't work and we don't work like that.

As the best run football club in the country, I think we are doing alright with our current system and people in charge.

...and then people would wonder why no one wants to join us, despite treating players like that. That would take us right back to the AVB days, and likely cause a lot of problems with squad harmony.

The problem is, they need to agree with them - Ali Z seems to be of the opinion that the players aren't accepting the moves. I'm not sure exactly what we're expected to do as a club.

I highly doubt Toby is rejecting his move, if anyone's doing the pricing out on this one it's us in terms of the fee. (Not that I want to sell him cheap to Utd!).

Re Ali Z's onions...

When the transfer window closing date was brought forward, teams in Europe were always going to wait until after the window shuts to get bargains. They would be mad not to. I actually think it's the correct decision by the PL clubs, but until the rest of the continent does the same, it is going to fuck us.

Hey ho - take the hit and move on. If the club genuinely thought European teams are stupid enough to not wait; i.e. that we would have half of those wanting to be sold gone by now, then I have given them far too much credit over the years. And there is no way they would have expected most of those players to be sold to PL clubs.

All that said - I am doing my very best to stay calm(ish) until the window shuts.

The discussion is on the basis of the information provided though, which suggested that it is the case. For all we know, preliminary discussions from TA with another club (as we are lead to believe they don't always go offer>contract>medical) might have been at a lower salary than he'd accept.

What was the last day that didn’t start with optimistic ITK and end with pessimistic ITK? Rough window.
Thing is, it's an informed opinion rather than pure ITK that has set everyone off.

You are right though it has been a rough window. The opinion itself isn't anything we haven't heard before to be fair. Doesn't stop people having a strop though.

Best run off the field, yeah.

Best run in terms of football success, not sure, he's done plenty of good things but I think he's lucked out massively with what Poch has achieved.

Possibly with a foreign club yes, which only reinforces what an idiot Toby was for backing out on what clearly was a very good contract offer from us.

I think people need to understand that it's a difficult window. Real Madrid haven't been able to replace Ronaldo, despite their lure and finances.

Let's have faith in Danny boy to pull something out of the hat.

It is absolutely laughable if we are using the fact that we haven't shifted fringe players as an excuse not to bring in the players the manager wants, homegrown or not. Especially since we've got an additional 3 weeks to sell or loan them to European clubs once our window closes. Absolute fucking madness if true and the very antithesis of being brave (irrespective of what Poch meant by that)

Absolutely. I'm not sure what the future will hold for him, but he's certainly done a Harry Redknapp with us and mucked things up at a crucial (and high point) of his career.

If they have the choice to leave and say no, chuck them in the reserves. It's not exactly like we are keeping them prisoner if what you're saying about Ali saying they don't want to leave is true.

We're a football club, not a day nursery. Are you seriously suggesting that missing out on pure class because we need to facilitate players like Janssen or Sissoko and their feelings when they are on top dollar compared to what they earnt previously to train with us is a good idea? Have a word mate.

Chelsea are known for their racist fans did it stop Willian from signing for them? Players, global players won't let the fact we put Vincent Janssen or Fernando Llorente in the reserves when they refused to leave us play a part in their decision making process, absolutely no chance. If you think that will tip the scales against us your sorely mistaken.

People don't want to join us because we don't stump up the cash, simple as that! we're a fanatastic club to play for, with a proven track record of developing genuine talent on a continuous basis. Young players should be bending over backwards to play for a team like Spurs but they aren't because Levy is £5-£15m behind the years. We now trail Everton & West Ham in transfer records paid I believe.

It's shit or stand up time for Levy now, he's tried getting away with unearthing the next N' signing too man you times in the past and now he has a genuine World Class foundation to add finishing touches to, he's pissing about again.

Long and short of it, we've evolved, now he has to

With no credible signings and we are offloading Rose, Toby and Dembele is suicidal and weaken us tremendously. A new stadium with nothing to celebrate with current mood of a screwed transfer window. Another season of pushing for top 4 which is looking more tough given recurring injuries, unsettled players etc. hope for better news and decisive actions. Good night!
