If Moutinho is really agreed then our midfield is looking pretty damn good considering we lost a top class midfielder. I think it would give Dembele a bit more license to drive from midfield and that is something AVB liked at Porto, Moutinho would do his Moutinho thing and we'd be better defensively than last year with Sandro and Dembele both being good tacklers and hard workers. Not to mention Sigurdsson, Parker, Livermore and VDV (still hoping he'll stay).

If we could sign Lloris and a striker/winger like Aubameyang then I think we'd be set.

But, but, but, but, if we add Mouts that will be 6 incredibly good players (VdV, Sig, Parker, Sandro, Dembele and Mouts) for three central positions. Am I dreaming? I can't remember a time that we've had so much strength in depth in the centre.

Its not really, as VDV and/or Siggy would probably play in the front line.

Thats exactly what I am saying.... we will be struggling for goalscorers! but if Damaio & Willian deals are dead, we are no longer interested in Remy... who can we realistically get at this late stage?? Its starting to sound like Affelay instead of Willian and as a few ITK have said "dont be surprised if no more strikers come in".

Agree with you about the high likelihood we will not have any big name strikers in. If as ITK said, Plan D in place, then maybe loan deal for strikers already in place. Someone who can hold up play unlike Defoe. Who I wonder?

WHY DO WE LEAVE IT TO DEADLINE DAY

I get that we can get cheaper prices. There is also the chance that we don't get an improvement and we stutter for the first few months.

I don't mind if we get a surprise transfer done on deadline day but can we please not put some players we desperately need to the wire? Please?

Because Real Madrid left it to the wire to agree a fee.

We're not talking about trading sweets here, we're talking about multi millions worth of asset transfers including sellers who don't want to sell. In business, negotiations of this size (10m plus) can take 6 months to a year or more, in football you're expected to conclude 5-10 of them in a couple of months.

Running a bit out of time but I still have a lot of faith in Levy having a solid direction.

I still wish we were linked to Aubameyang. He's such a worthy investment that could really blossom into a financial asset.

I think Lloris will announce either way which direction he's leaning and we should know if he's going to be on the books before deadline day is officially here.

As for Moutinho, I still have my doubts and majorly (Not in regards to the talent but Porto accepting that offer). It'd be a marquee signing undoubtedly. I'm curious as to how much is left in our transfer budget that's been alotted to spend.

If the Modric deal was 33m for sure, and Porto accepts the rumored 20m fee, we're looking at adding Moutinho and Dembele for essentially the fee of Modric. Really good business there.

As for Rafa, a decision should be made similar to Lloris. We've got to unload if we're going to with enough time to bring in more talent. I'm in the majority when I state I'd prefer he would stay. That being said, I would hate for a key squad acquisition (RW cover/starting caliber talent) have to wait until January because we couldn't free up funds quick enough to work with them.

Still plenty of work to be done that's for sure. Should be a shitstorm of rumors at the least.

I would really like to see some bids come in for the likes of Gomes etc... have a feeling that their wages might be to high though and we'll either have to loan or sell at cut price (whatever that is now).

also add that we have given enough time for the first choices and are on options B, C or D or that option A's (Moutinho, Lloris) suddenly becomes available at a reasonable prices thus saving several million.

In all seriousness, if Moutinho ends up happening, especially because "Porto folded" like its been reported, I am building a shrine to DL in my office at work.

If he tops that with another world class striker, you may have to start a new religon
